I know I've probably been one of those who has had some less than endearing things to say about trucks. Not that I really have so much against them since I have owned a few in my time.(my Lil Red Express comes to mind)
I have seen some trucks at the strip that would flat kick butt and take names but just like some other around me have said "can you imagine how much faster if all that power were in a smaller lighter body with less wind drag?"
I guess my major beef has been with Dodge slapping the names of old musclecars on pickup trucks...with high centers of gravity and heavy weight to drag on the street they are pretty much thirsty paper tigers. The "Rumble Bee" I can almost take but the "Daytona" with the huge plastic wing was way too far out in left field.
Dont get me wrong, I think trucks can have a sporty flavor, look good and sound good, but they will never handle like a car, be lightweight or anywhere near fuel efficent. They are ideal for their purpose but they arent musclecars. I'm sure there are custom built one-offs that cross over those lines but not the factory models.
But as with all things automotive, whatever turns your crank is what you do...I dont care for Donks or ricer machines either but that doesnt mean they cant do their thing. I'm sure there are those who diss my PT convertible but it matters not to me cuz the car is a hoot to drive.
Let the wheels roll no matter what you drive
