thank you herc, the thing that we hate about what he does is that he is part of special ops so one day he goes to the base and may not come back for 2-4 weeks and my aunt wont even know about him leaving until after he lands over seas....there have only been 3 times that he himself told us he was going over b4 he actually went. i just hope and pray he comes back!

Sorry for your loss. I too have many friends serving overseas. Rest Assured he was cared for as best as the local medics could. Hopefully the Patriot Guard there in Wisconsin will stand at his funeral. There is nothing like the scene of 300 bikers holding 3x5 flags waving in the wind to honor your friend. I have riden my motorcycle in 18 degrees, 105 degrees, pouring rain, tornado warnings and beautiful sunny days to so many of these that they could very easilty run together. Thou, I will not let them. I honor and remember each soldier and their story. Log on to www.patriotguard.org and watch for his info, or pass along what you know to the WI captain.
This is how the Kansas Patriot Guard who started the nationwide movement rolls:

Re: my friend was killed - 04/23/08 12:06 AM

I am deeply saddened by your loss and the fact that your uncle has been called to serve so many times is just plain scary. Hopefully one day soon our heavy involvement in this mess over there will be at an end and so many families will have tremendous homecomings to look forward to.

May God bless you and your friends family for his last great scarifice. These are exactly the kind of feelings that I get overcome with when I have visited the various war memorials. Knowing that every name I stare at is someones friend, spouse or child, each with their own stories and personality.

Always remember in your heart that his loss was not in vain...no matter what political spoutings might be said, I grant you that the members of his unit will tell you otherwise.
Try to be strong for those who still count on you as we here strengthen our hearts on your behalf. usa usa usa

My condolences also, man. I've got one of my best friends over there right now, due home in less than two months, and I don't even want to think of anything happening to him...

Hey Chevman, thanks to you as well for what you do. I'd like to maybe do that one day. I remember a couple years back when a local Marine was killed, and the Patriot Guard came out. Very moving...you should be proud.

As should you, 01 GT. He went doing what he loved and lived for, it sounds like. I know it doesn't make things any easier, but...he's a hero in my book.

*salutes*

Hey Acefighter, be proud of your fellow Texans. This is how they roll:

Believe me, I know it. This state may be hotter than the devil's kitchen, but it's some good people.

Good people like Joe Horn of Pasadena TX. I wish all my neighbors were like Joe. Only 1/2 are like him around me, but I can deal with that.

It's easy wink
just click on the link for the PGR in my sig and sign up. Membership is free and your mode of transportation does not matter. As a matter of fact when I was in Maine missions in the winter we would use the cars. Not as impressive going down the road but when you have 30-40 people outside a funeral home in sub freezing weather standing proud it's a sight to see.

Hmm...I didn't know you didn't have to be a biker. I may be checking in to that...

Re: my friend was killed - 04/23/08 11:49 PM

We always need cars and trucks to bring flag poles and coolers with water and or hot drinks. A lot of older Vets like to go, but are getting too old to drive and stand for a long time, so cars bring them and haul lawn chairs for them to sit on. We try and have a pickup with a ramp or trailer that brings up the rear to haul a Harley that will probably break down.

Cager...?

Re: my friend was killed - 04/27/08 09:01 AM

An affectionate term for cars used by those who ride motorcycles. Because for all intents and purposes you sit in a cage in the car.
