Stars on a Mustang! * Update w/ pics* - 02/24/10 08:49 AM

So my gf has a 2003 mustang and was pondering some rims, same size just a different style.
I see that many have swapped rims with mustangs, has anyone put T stars on a mustang?
Reason being, is I can throw my T stars on her mustang and then I can get me some 18"s!!!

Re: Stars on a Mustang! * Update w/ pics* - 02/24/10 02:12 PM

i dont see why it wouldnt work. we use mustang rims on a gp , why can they use gp rims on a mustang? crazy

Re: Stars on a Mustang! * Update w/ pics* - 02/24/10 03:17 PM

Mustang rims are not an exact fit. I know there is a slight difference in size so the Torque stars may be on the tight side or just the opposite.

But hey get your GF over and jack the cars up and test fit em wink

Re: Stars on a Mustang! * Update w/ pics* - 02/24/10 05:06 PM

I dont think they would work because of the offset differences. Mustang rims on our cars sit out a little farther than the tstars would thus making the tstars more than likely touch the calipers on the mustang. Worth a try though.

Cant see why not. Why wouldjoo? I'd want the wider footprint for the Stang. Also, would she really want an arrowhead on a Pony?

Re: Stars on a Mustang! * Update w/ pics* - 02/24/10 06:06 PM

Just noticed in picture that the Mustang decal is going backwards, is this strange?

She don't care, just wants rims.
I just don't want a pony on the GP.

Hers look like these or worse:

I fully understand why she wants better rims. I would too. Like Herc said, try it and go from there.

I do understand where Boosten is coming from. I see why they work on our cars and perhaps not on a mustang.

Some one wasn't paying attention when they applied the decal. Those aren't your typical vynils they are the wet transfer ones. I bet the otherside is backwards as well.

It's a mirrored image, look at the steering wheel...

Re: Stars on a Mustang! * Update w/ pics* - 02/24/10 09:24 PM

SICK. A right hand drive Stang!! Finally something I can cruise in with all my RHD import buddies....the picture is just mirrored. The Mustang on the front grill is also backwards.

Like boosten says, I don't think they will work, the offset is too high on a Tstar for it to clear the caliper of the mustang.

EDIT, Zalfrin already beat me to it, took too long to post. :p

I didn't notice the stearing wheel but the "ford" plate looks like it's normal.

I believe it's 08 not 80. Had it been other numbers it would have been more obvious. Wonder why they'd use a mirrored shot unless they are trying to hide some damage.

Re: Stars on a Mustang! * Update w/ pics* - 02/24/10 10:28 PM

Also, Ford "horse" grille is backward too.

That's really mirror image. It would be funny if it is real backward decal but it is not.

Did I remember clubgp have mustang with torque star wheel?

shhh, I deleted that post. wink I didn't realize it had posted, thought I revised it beforehand. Oh well. But yeah I realized that after thinking of something else to look for to see if it was a mirrored image, steering wheel was a good one. smile

I don't know Mustangs well enough to know which direction the horse is running so I couldn't go by that without looking at other mustangs.

Yeah..'cuz I was gunna say..looks like the horse emblem in the grille is backwards too. That's the first thing I noticed when he said the decal was backwards. Weird.

It wouldn't hide any damage, you would still be seeing the same side of the car, just facing the opposite way

Re: Stars on a Mustang! * Update w/ pics* - 02/25/10 10:24 AM

So would that be mirrored in Photoshop or can that be done with a camera?

Im getting at trying to pass the passenger side off as the drivers side. Why else show a mirrored image of a car on a sales lot?

It wasn't posted as a fail pic, turned out to be one.

lol, a fail pic, intentional or not, is still a fail pic nonetheless. And it turned out to make for a funny fail thread that failed due to a fail but such fails were failed to be noticed. Never fails.

crazy lol

Re: Stars on a Mustang! * Update w/ pics* - 03/08/10 11:16 AM

So I put two on. Her tires are 225/55, mine are 225/60, slightly bigger.
The bolts line up its just the rim doesn't sit flush against the rotor, it's 1/8" away all the way around.
I wouldn't feel safe riding on them like that.
Seems like the axle itself is slightly too big to fit in the center of the rim hole.

Is there a spacer that can be used or is this a no go?

Before:

See the spacing:

Re: Stars on a Mustang! * Update w/ pics* - 03/08/10 11:23 AM

It does actually not that bad.

I agree with you... I won't feel safe to drive like that. I bet this car will shake like hell.

lol what's up with Pontiac Grand Prix vs Ford Mustang wheel?

Chris got mustang wheel with horse logo.
Your girlfriend got your wheel with pontiac logo.

Guess let call it Pontiac Mustang. Ford Grand Prix. wink

can they work?
Some sort of wheel spacer?
Grind out the axle hole some?

Re: Stars on a Mustang! * Update w/ pics* - 03/15/10 02:01 AM

This is just like trying to swap the wheels on my intrepid and my gtp. The dodge wheels work perfect on the pontiac, but the pontiac wheels would need some grinding to fit safely on the dodge.

Re: Stars on a Mustang! * Update w/ pics* - 03/09/12 09:45 PM

Actually, I had a similar issue on my Stratus, but in reverse. The GP wheels fit the Stratus, but the Stratus wheels wouldn't fully seat cause of the center hub size on the Pontiac. The Stratus wheels were some pretty nice 17" alloy 5-spokes too.
