Get some Infinity references (a pair of 5 1/4's up front, and a pair of 6x9's in the back, then get the 4 channel VPower Alpine Amplifier (50w x 4 RMS) and you will fall in love with your music, trust me:). Not to mention if you ever get subs you'll be able to hear your music over atleast 800w RMS of pure Alpine Bass....anything more and idk but i can hear it fine over my subs.

www.crutchfield.com

They have a Memorial day sale going on right now too.

Even their cheapest speakers will be an improvement over stock. I went with Infinity up front and Pioneer in the back as my signature says. An amp with a stock stereo is a waste IMHO. YOu could do an entire decent system for about $250. They have alpine 5 1/4 on sale for $50 and some kicker 6x9s for $75.

If your going to get that nice of speakers you mine aswell go with a deck aswell. If you want any improved sound your going to want a new deck atleast to give it a lil more power then those stock stereos. You'll be techically underpowering those aftermarket speakers and it could be very bad for them. Speakers like power, no sense in starving them from that.

Re: speakers - 05/26/08 12:27 AM

My car sounds great with factory deck and upgraded speakers, and the beauty is, no one will break in to steal a factory deck. This is something you need to consider being young and driving to school, the mall, parties, and I can almost assume parking outside at home because mom and dad's car is in the garage.

I guess I don't understand how underpowering speakers is bad for them. To me that is like putting a V-6 in a Corvette. You aren't going to break it.

Underpowering speakers will actually kill them over time, underpowering is just as bad as overpowering a speaker when it comes to car audio.

Re: speakers - 05/27/08 11:19 PM

Youd dont have to get an after market deck to put an amp and sub its just a lil deal that cost about 20 bucks and hooks up to the back of the stock radio! I got a real good deal on my system at bestbuy but thats cause my girlfriend works there. I went all alpine cause its the best! I did alpine head unit and s series on all 6 speakers cause i need to track down the tweeters in alpine! The 10' type R with a alpine mp 850 amp and i broke the sub in slow and now i have all 800 watts the the 10 and it pounds nice!

you just have to modify it a lil bit.. if you've got some mechanical background you could probably pull it off
