Tight car, but I wouldn't pay that much, unless I was Jay Leno.

It a nice looking car but I would put that 135,000 on another car like the ZR1. I could see if it was the newer monte carlo models but not this one.

I can watch the barrett auction but most times I dont cause I think...Oh My GOD D*&m!!!... The Cha Ching these people spend on these cars...and the cars them selves...un real, My dream car is a 1968 camaro SS RS Convert with the 396 and 4 speed...only 2800 ever made
I seen a 57 chev 4 door go for over a hundred grand, that was my first project car, so yeah Ive always been a car guy and my heart lies with American muscle!

Um...no thanks. Looks interesting, but not insanely powerful like I was hoping. Surely not worth $135k. lol

Re: Intimidator Monte Carlo sold for $135,000 - 01/14/09 07:28 AM

It's a one off done by GM.

That's why it sold for so much.

Keep your eyes out. GM has put quite a few of their heritage collection up for sale at Barret.

Yes, GM is selling off a lot of their concept vehicles, which is way better than destroying them like they've done in the past.

GM sold a couple of Impala SS's last night. One was a 92 SS with a 454, from the factory. A one off car
The other was a 94 SS with a 6 speed manual trans from the factory, another one off since the Impala SS was never offered with a manual trans.

An interesting side note, these cars are sold with a salvaged title. depending on your local laws, if you bought these cars you may not be able to register them to drive on the road.

Actually they aren't "salvage title" it's NO title, bill of sale only. Generally concepts don't have VINs so they cannot be titled. Some of the one offs like the Imps talked about could have a VIN. If you look at Barrets website they tell you if the vehicle in question has a title or BOS only. Those that are sold that way the buyers only buy em for collections like Jay or some auto museum.

so BOS Only are unable to be registered and driven? That would suck.

yeah well good thing the only people that can afford that only would buy them for show anyway.

Re: Intimidator Monte Carlo sold for $135,000 - 01/14/09 10:31 AM

GM is selling them on a salvaged title to prevent any law suit against them if something goes wrong with the cars and GM isn't able to honor any kind of warranty on a one off car.

Their only option on a one off car is to sell on a salvaged title.

oh. correct me here: buy that 454 Impy, you can register and rive it legally, but no dealership will ever accept any warranty work? No that bad of a deal. Thats pretty much like our cars that we drive on a daily basis, anyway.

Re: Intimidator Monte Carlo sold for $135,000 - 01/14/09 10:52 AM

I'm big Earnhardt fan. This car is not bad. After see the picture at racetrack. I see "Winston Cup" name from grandstand. Wow, it was long time when Winston left. I miss old nascar and of course Dale Earnhardt too. After he was killed, then nascar have gone change to worse.

Again it is nice car. It would be cool if it is black like Dale Earnhardt's race car.

Only if the state you live in will allow a salvaged title car to be registered.
Some states will not allow a car with a salvaged title to be registered.

A couple of years ago Ford unloaded some of their concept cars at B-J. They were no title cars.
No title = unable to be registered = no driving on public roads.

Re: Intimidator Monte Carlo sold for $135,000 - 01/14/09 02:23 PM

Some are sold with Salvage title some are sold with no manufaterer statement of origin (MSO)and can never be registered.

Here's a link to the cars
http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/search.aspx?st=1&aid=283&d=01/14/2009

If the link dies just go to http://www.barrett-jackson.com/ click on scottsdale then current car list.

Then you can drool over all the cars GM is dumping.

Ford already is selling the Raptor concept.

Re: Intimidator Monte Carlo sold for $135,000 - 01/14/09 10:08 PM

Man.... I remember when that concept came out. I told everyone that my first NEW car was going to be the "Intimidator Monte Carlo" even though it was FWD, I think it was 1998.... Needless to say, they never produced it so my first new car was the 240HP Grand Prix.
My first love was a '78 Monte Carlo that I bought back in 1988 that I was hoping to replace with another Monte..... Oh well.

They can be registered as kit cars. Some dude drives the first 35th anniversary Camaro ever produced and it has no VIN, it has a kit car title.
