Because they are quite ugly and utilitarian.

I don't know what GM did with the windows cause my 98 Silverado hasn't had one window problem.

My 98 GTP has had very little to complain about with 113k. Window, hubs, and other then normal wear items that's it.

Seriously though those two things are extremely minor compared to a laundry list of possible things that could go wrong at 50k. GP's are notorious for having poor window motors/switches and they have the same reputation with the heating and cooling switches/motors/resistors. Every car is not made equally. Its a small price to pay to drive a car as sexy as the grand prix is cheers

lol. you're complaining about a resistor and a switch? those are barely considered repairs.

DIY cost:
resistor $17
switch $10 used

The only issue I have had are my tie rods. The roads suck up north. Anyways to get 1 tie rod put in it would have been $260... $89 for the part and the rest for labor for 1 tie rod install. Passenger went first then the driver side 6 months later. Bought each for $30 and put em in saving $460.

Tie rods are normal wear items. And is highly recommended to be replaced in pairs. $260 to install one tie rod end? What a rip off.

My 2002 GT coupe has 88k on it, bought it at 60k

Things I have HAD to replace:

Passenger wheel bearing
Ignition Switch
Passenger window switch
Blower resistor
Upper/lower intake gaskets (warrentied before the actual recall)
Passenger outer Tie Rod end

Total cost to me was about $300.00 (warrenty deductibles)

Things I have elected to replace on my own:

I am sooo not going there, would be easier to list what I haven't replaced yet.

it makes me sad to hear that most of your gps are complaint free. dont get me wrong here i love my gp with a passion(maybe too much) but iv had sooo many problems with it. tranny, wheel bearings, tie rods, sway bars, waterpumps, control arms, blower motor, supercharger, egr, suspension...and i could keep going, so dont be upset with your windows and blower motor, i wish that was all that was wrong with my car

I know its common wear Herc lol, however I didn't know it was recommended to do both thank you for that.

Now to answer your question 4rsssfed.
The actual rods, friend had an extra pair a customer didn't come in for them so he sold em mad cheap to me, he owed me anyways haha. He gets discounts on suspension stuff through his uncle shop too.

Hmmm, I'm curious what was wrong with the tie rods that you had to replace them... bent?

Yea when I went to get my car aligned they couldn't. They said my tie rod was bent sure enough it was. The sleeve was fine but the end near the bolt attaching to the tire was bent on the drivers side, I bought both tie rods but only replaced that one, but then the passenger side was acting up I put it on jack stands and it had too much play so I replaced that one after. The roads and the winters ugh.

Not even I avoid potholes just all the "patchs" and "repairs". I go slow over speed bumps and stuff I don't beat it up its just how bad they are. I can tell you right now why it bent I just remembered when this old lady came into my lane of traffic there was a car in front of me so I couldn't speed up and If I braked off she would of hit me I had to ramp up on that little 2" lip on the side shredded a half inch deep 1 inch tall and 5 inch wide cut out of my sidewall. Luckily I had a road hazard warranty on the tires so I replaced it for $13 lol. Little did I think to even check my tie rod and suspension I was glad she didn't hit me. Wow I had totally forgotten about that ha.
