So HID's arrived from Beijing in like 3 days.
Just purchased projectors this morning.
I'm excited.
I also have another Yankee Workshop project in assembly, need to get pictures taken and posted of that.

Those tails are really nice looking..I'm guessing the top pic is the before? I'd like to see those things on a car and lit up.

those look good Steve.

The top pic is with the parts taped off before whoever (i'm guessing Flip?) sprayed them.

I don't think it is FLIP'S work because of different ground. Maybe it was in inside his garage.

There is his work. There are lot of neat idea in this link. My both cars are from medium tint. No problem so far. No pull over by Ohio police which they have been behind me few times. As long it is cool for them. Not sure about Florida's law.

http://www.flipscustomtails.com/tails/gp.html

I like new black led projector which it was like few weeks ago. It is finally full black instead black/chrome from 1st projector.

palsut, those tails are flips. They are on GPONA and he is selling them for like $150 or something.

Those black projectors are HORRIBLE palsut! If you are going to be getting projectors buy the ones that were first introduced or dont buy any at all. The first ones (that everyone has) are the best projectors as far as light output and durability is concerned. Plus the ones that you posted up in that link are ugly as sin!

I know it might cost lot but it does look sweet on our car. wink

Actually, I believe you are thinking other bad led projector?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1997-2003...Q5fAc cessories

I'm talking about new one which it was from same company Spyder. I read at club site that they actually like that. I don't see any negative about new one. Maybe you are 1st? lol

Sorry, Steve for off-topic. Good luck install them. Looking forward to see them. I remember I seen your fogged headlight. I'm sure it will look better with new projector that you have. wink

palsut, both "LED" projectors are ugly with those 3 lights in them....plus these new ones have a HUGE amber turn signal that is brighter than the actual projector bulb...sorry i dont find that appealing on a car...lol

The projectors Tim and I have are the best ones to date, the newest ones are junk, the output sucks even with HID's and the turn signal bulbs in the center dont look good at all.

lol yeah I should know that but reason I thought it is different person because FLIP always took a picture of tails on his driveway which it is gray on background instead that picture (pink floor background) from you post. I guess it was inside of garage floor instead his driveway. I just saw picture of silver paint with tint on that car first time today. Look nice.

I don't like led too but I like full black projector. I know turn signal is ugly but I have white one. I'm just not a fan of black/chrome mixed. I wish they could make full black from what 01 gt, 20gtp02 or boostengtp02 have that projector.

I was patient waiting for full black until I finally see new one. I just like finally! But some of you hate it lol

There is new black led projector on black car pictures if you haven't seen it yet.

http://www.clubgp.com/newforum/tm.asp?m=5151044&p=1&mpage=4&tmode=1&smode=1&key=&language=

Oh well maybe more waiting game then. wink

So I snapped some pics this morning.
I'm still browsing on making sure install of these items goes smoothly.
I can't seem to find the write up for wiring this HID kit in, given I had seemed to remember seeing a bunch of stuff on here, given Longzerg posted a few times on helping people out.

The wood box you see in the trunk is my new thought of keeping the music out of my trunk an forcing it into the cabin.
I purhcased a pair of the shown foam capsules from Crutchfield.com for $15.99 shipped.
They are 5" deep, Crutchfield sells some that are 3.5" deep.
Well given I test fitted the capsules and noticed that the 6x9 speaker isn't alone, that there is a high speaker back there.
So I was like darn.
I also thought the capsules were rigid, like a hard plastic. But they are foam like and that will absorb the sound more than bounce it off.
So pops said give him measurments and he'd cut the pieces so I could make a box.
I have both made, just one is temporarily mounted to see how it works.
I'm going to sand them and paint them black so they blend in.
I've noticed a difference with just the one in, hopefully a much more noticeable difference with both in properly mounted.

Light output between the 1st and 3rd gen projectors are similar. Without seeing them in person it'll be hard to say one far exceeds the other. Cameras just don't do justice to light output, too many variables with exposure settings and whatnot. The pics in the clubgp thread are also poor because the comparison vehicles have the lights adjusted quite differently...

After looking over the wiring, looks like all I need is power to the two wires that are bare.
Either it be to a switch or spliced into the existing headlight wiring in the vehicle, which I prefer the latter.

ya steve, you dont put anything to a switch unless you want to have the halos hooked up to a switch.

All the wiring for the lights goes straight to the original headlight wiring, but its all plug and play, no splicing is necessary.

I dont have ballasts with me but it looks like you have that right, may need to push it down a bit more to look that other tab down.

And the two ends on that plug just pin into your stock headlight plug.

ya steve, now you are just gonna have to attach the grounds and plug them into your stock headlight wiring plug and put the bulb into the projector.

idk why you keep thinking its not right. lol

So hows the sound now that you have boxes in the trunk for the rear 6x9's?

My guess is the bass is just a tinge better.

Ya Palsut I came through, unlike some have for me.
You know I take pictures of everything, even willing to go outside right now to take pictures for a member to help them out.

I still think there is an issue with the bulb going into the projector hole.
It ain't gonna go without much force, and I just don't feel comfortable doing it.
I have notice, if I turn the bulb 90*, with the white covered piece of the bulb to the right, it will slide in with no effort, but then it gets snagged 1/2" in with a piece of metal in the opening, as you can see in this first picture:

Anyone explain how that bulb goes in, maybe a picture would solve this for me.
I'm just not willing to break something that has to be shipped from freakin Beijing again.

I'm not the only one, found this on clubgp:

*see page 4:
http://www.clubgp.com/newforum/tm.asp?m=4648415

"hey guys got a couple questions about the HIDs. just got some hids for my projectors today i am am a little new at some of this stuff. my first question is when i inserted my hid bulbs in the projector housing it did not fit. i did get the H1 bulbs, i am not sure what the piece is called but the small wire that exits the top of the bulb and runs back down seems to be in the wrong place? or do i need to drill/cut my projector housing so that it fits. "

I had the same problem with mine, I just shoved the HID bulb in however, it will go. I cracked the ceramic cover over the return wire (that's the white piece you're referring to).I had cracked one in my foglights before as well and it was never an issue so I'm not worried.

However I can see your concern. You can file that metal piece down where the bulb goes into the projector to give you some more room, just be careful and if you can try holding the projector upside down so any filings come out. Then just blow it out to make sure nothing is in there. It shouldn't take long to file it down enough as you only need to remove a very little amount.

I'm also a little confused with your last picture.

The only two wires coming out of the boot that goes over the projector should be the HID bulb wires. You'll need to cut it open a little bit to fit the plug ends through and then silicone it to keep moisture out.

Other than that it looks like you have everything right.

Those four wires don't connect to each other?
Originally the two wires connected to a bulb inside the projector, but now I disconnected them and reconnected them to the blue/black near the bulb.

The connections look good. As stated you will need to cut the rubber boot to fit the wires from the HID bulbs and to fit the rubber boot back on over the bulbs. Other than that your good to go.

Connections seem fine, not the way I did it but it still works.

Just pull those wires out of the boot and connect them so they don't go through it. Once you have the HID in the projector you won't be able to fit the boot over it unless you cut it a bit, fit the wires through and then silicone it.

All pics can be seen here:

see me projectors

With the gf watching over my shoulders, I got the projectors in and working.
Hardest part was running wires and wiring in the switch for the halos.
I'm going to take some pics tonight through the windshield to compare.
As you can see the stocks look really bright if your in front of the car, but behind the wheel, they plain suckkkk!

I need to do some alignment of the projectors, since there is a gap on both next to the grilles.

They are so bright though, its amazing.
I got the 6000k bulbs.
It's time to fix my foglights, or at least replace a bulb.

Stock light output:

Stock view from inside:

Ummm...the difference:

I tried this in FAQ but I can't figure out my cars programming (my drls are disabled but I want to disable flashing of hids when I press the keyfob):

disable headlight flash for use with HIDs/Projectors

If your car has a BCM Type 4 (Look for RPO code UA6 on the Service Parts Identification decal under the trunk lid) here's how to do it:

How to program:
1 Turn off the IP dimmer switch
2 Turn ignition switch to OFF position
3 Remove MALL PGM fuse
4 Turn ignition switch to ACC position
The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equal to the BCM installed in vehicle (1-4 times) Make sure BCM is Type 3 or 4.
Now the BCM has entered the feature customization mode.

5 To change the remote unlock control mode, press and release the unlock button on the transmitter.
The BCM will sound the chime equal to the remote unlock control mode. A transition past Mode 2 repeats the sequence starting with Mode 1.

Remote Unlock Control Modes
Mode 1 (disabled) All doors unlock when pressing unlock on transmitter
Mode 2 Driver's door unlocks when pressing unlock once on transmitter, press unlock again within five seconds unlocks all doors

6 To change remote activation verification mode, press and release the lock button on transmitter. The BCM will sound the chime equal to the remote activation verification mode it is in. A transition past Mode 4 repeats sequence with Mode 1.

Remote Activation Verification Modes
Mode 1 Feature disabled
Mode 2 Headlamps flash when pressing unlock or lock on transmitter.
Mode 3 Headlamps flash when pressing unlock on the transmitter. Headlamps flash and horn sounds when pressing lock on the transmitter.
Mode 4 Headlamps flash when pressing unlock on transmitter. Headlamps flash when pressing lock once on transmitter; within five seconds, headlamps flash and horn sounds when pressing lock again on transmitter.

To exit and save: Turn ignition switch to OFF, Reinstall MALL PGM fuse

Any better, is that a joke?
They are aimed wrong, putting light 20 feet down on the road, and it still is lighting up the darkness ahead. They are rediculous man.
Oh, and I need to finish the speaker boxes in the trunk, haven't got any farther than the pics I posted. I little better with just one box installed, need to detail them up and install both.
Probably going to put that foam hat in there too.

Look good! Wow, your stock headlight is horrible. Might be too much sun heat or something.

I probably will get spyder projector. I guess I will deal with chrome corner as I wish it has black corner. Guess that's better than nothing. I won't use HID on it. I will see how projector night look. If it is good then I can leave it alone. Why I refuse use HID beause I'm deaf. I need use key remote from flash my light to know it is locked. I know HID is not good for flashing. I have been working night shift since 2001. I use stock light bulb since from my 1997 Oldsmobile Cutless to Pontiac Grand Prix stock headlight. Of course lot of people use stock light too. I never see any HID on road but sometimes from Lexus, BMW or Audi.

patrick, I have HID's in my projectors and i still have my flash activated to lock/unlock the car and I have yet to have a problem. HID's are FAR better for visibility reasons and you wont "blind" anyone while driving.

Yeah, and they've lasted so far so I'm sure it's a good idea.

Tim has reached balla status. I have seen that dude burn $100 bills because they aren't crisp enough. A set of bulbs is nothing to him.

I can't figure out how to disable mine, given the directions are in another language.
And Palsut, all the money you spend so far and given you drive during a.m. hours, spend the $58 on HIDs shipped to your door in 3 days. Amazingly better.
You'll get to see how many people drive around with piss yellow headlights.

It seriously took me 2 minutes, I hope you know where the "off" position is, past where you can remove the key.

That's pretty dumb to waste your bulbs like that, but I guess that's me

I will try it a shot. Got a lot tax refund last Friday.

Let see...

Get LED black projector.. umm I mean spyder projector wink

Get HID 9007 6000K. I see website about $41 shipped from hid sale thread from "everything else" that should cover everything what I need.

Is that all? Do I miss some?

As you know this aftermarket HID is very illegal. I will print this thread and show that cop that you all guys make me doing that so I should off hook and put stock light back. lol

yes it is. car was not equipped with HIDs by factory, therefore illegal. does not matter if the projector you are putting them in is from a vehicle which allowed HIDs.

It may be illegal but its better to run HIDs in a projector housing than a non projector housing.

Palsut the spyder projectors use H1 bulbs for the projector and 9005 for the high beams. I have a 9007 bi-xenon harness on mine that allows the ballasts to get power from the battery. I am also using a 35W 5000K kit that looks OEM in the projectors. DDM tuning has HIDs for cheap

patrick, it may be illegal, but the police are not going to pull you over for having HId's in your projectors. they are not going to make you take them off and put your stock lights back in.

They'll just write you a ticket and be done with you but that's only if you get a ridiculous color or have glare shooting at oncoming traffic.

100% agree, I don't think installing HIDs into projectors should be illegal since you can control the light output. But it is what it is.

Thank everyone. I will give a shot.

I will order it on 23rd when I get back. I'm on vacation this Friday to Monday so I don't want mess up for shipping to my apt if I'm out of state vacation in couple days.

Anyway, I spend some time to looking at ebay.

I found this one. Is that worth it?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1997-1998...Q5fA ccessories

I found this video for how to install projector. It is usually helpful me. Seem easy. It seems this guy skip halo wire hook up. Guess halo is not important? lol

that set would be fine palsut. for the halos, you just need to splice them in to whatever wire you want. most people use the corner markers, you could also use fogs or turn signals. you can also leave them disconnected. they're not bright enough to bother with IMO.

I have noticed some of people mentioned about halo is not very bright too. I probably won't bother with it. I only need headlight. Halo doesn't do anything.

I should buy this link tomorrow before I'm leaving for vacation on Friday.

I'm sure it will come Tuesday or so. They are from California so I knew it will take a while to ship.

Projector should piece the cake but still scared of HID lol

Got package last night.

I guess I got everything or did I miss some?

Hid stuffs out from box

After connect the wire together. I'm confused where they are supposed go to?

I'm pretty sure I will work on Saturday so I will probably install them on Sunday since this car is 30 miles away from me. Maybe I will give a projector a shot without HID if I like it or not.

No one know where red and white HID plug will go to? I guess ebay seller forgot something. I couldn't figure it out where plug go to.

Just got my summer car out of garage last night. I will drive it few days (warm weather) then storage it back on Sunday.

Can you take a better picture of the whole thing? Your first pic shows the blue adapter that plugs into your stock headlight harness, but not the rest of the wires.

On mine, the two wires with the spade terminals are just dangling, unused. My relay harness is used instead of them. They would be where you would apply power if you are not using a relay harness.

Palsut, those red and black wires go to the blue headlight plug on your car. On the stock wiring harness behind your headlight there is a blue plug. The RED wire will splice into the BEIGE wire and the BLACK wire will splice into the BLACK wire. This is how the ballasts get power from the headlight harness.

OR

On that blue plug harness you have at the bottom of the first picture there may be a blue and a black wire that are female connections that the RED and BLACK wire will plug into. If that is the case you can just plug those in to that and that will go to the stock harness.

More pictures of that blue plug will help.

What red and white you talking about in picture?
The big blug plug plugs into your harness that you disconnect from the stock headlight.
The two wires with the flat terminals, black and red in your picture, you remove the rubber boot on the middle bulb of the projector headlight. You take out that bulb, insert the HID bulb in that hole, and those two terminals plug into the female terminals inside that boot.

Palsut, use that info above and go to page 3 and look at my pictures, you'll understand what I am talking about.

lol I mean black. Not white. I can't believe I say white. Guess I'm pretty beat up for work night shift last night then start morning shift today. I get few hours of sleeping left. After great nap, so I install the plug what you guys told me. I took it to test on my car but not install on it since it is very dark outside. Perfect. Wow, very bright. Nearly blind myself.

I have trouble to how to hold the HID bulb with gold metal thing. I couldn't figure it out how to put it back together where it supposed to be. I look left projector as example that I didn't remove them out yet. I took right projector bulb out then put HID bulb on it.

The retainer wire just snaps in place with a little effort, as long as you have the bulb fully seated.
