I am probably going to make myself look stupid for asking this but would my car be able to stay up with a stock GTP if I were to get a 2.5" Downpipe, New throttle body,ZZP PCM, and HV3 intake?

I mean im just wondering this because a supercharger is alot of money and i wanna be fast but dont wanna have to spend the money for a supercharger.

At the current time I will not get any of those things but over time i may be able to puchase one at a time and When I put all the costs together it'd still be less then a supercharger.

to be fast and NA = alot of money.

it's all relative of course.

I don't think those mods would net quite the gain to keep up with the GTP but it would be close.

Off the line comparable because of gearing 1/4 mile different story.

I see, so off the line I may be matching them but as they get faster the supercharger will kick in and stomp me?

If you get aggressive rockers or a cam, then maybe. When I had the GT engine, I had all the mods you mentioned except for the HV3 but its only good for the top end. I could NOT role against a GTP. When Chico's car was just a GT, it could stomp GTPs but he had a LOT of mods from what I understand.

What is your budget? A 2.5" Downpipe, HVTB,ZZP PCM, HV3, and rockers would run you approx $1.5k. Then you would come close but probably not stomp a GTP. A CSC supercharger, turbo, engine swap is around $3k-$4k depending on what you get and you would stomp a GTP.

And no, that was no where near a stupid question.

i don't think a csc would stomp a GTP, especially off the line. they're sort of like turbos in that they maximize power in the top end.

*Waits for zuul to come in and defend the CSC.*

In all seriousness I think a CSC is much faster than a stock GTP.

CSC's are much more efficent then the GTP's positive displacement blowers. that being said you can run more boost with lower inlet temps.... this alows you to run more timing.

like said NA and fast gets expensive. your prob better off doing a top swap to your motor or the M90 SS kit from ZZP.

I think Chico can tell you all about how much oomph you can get from a L36. I have the HVTB on my car along with the powerlog, stock downpipe and hi-flow cat...granted I have never raced the car so I cant speak about times and such. I know my car feels strong on the bottom but runs out of breath as it reaches redline. I'm sure the PCM would help that but the more I thought about continuing to spend money on mods that were not compatible with boosting the engine I held back. I'm not going to waste my money on a downpipe, PCM or HV3 when I can just hold off for an L67 or a top swap. Then I'll go 3"DP, pcm and maybe ported rear manifold. I gotta worry about my tranny first since my diff is going slowly south but I think it will be worth the wait. The car is still fun to drive now but the mean looks will be well served when that K&N filter lets wail that angry blower whine...then it will finally be the musclecar I've always dreamed it would be. FWD or no, 300 ponies will make that car plenty stout...and still get 27mpg devilgrin

I feel alot of bottom end power with my car aswell its just the redline it feels like its out of breate much like you mentioned Tbat. I really want to race a few cars to see how my car can do but atm i dont have time to go to a track or anything and dont feel like getting any speeding tickets.

Absolutely not, look at it this way a stock GTP runs high to mid 14's stock with the mods you have planned you wo'nt break 15 ,so a minimum of rockers & plog an a 3" dp and a HV TB would be needed to even hang with the slowest stock GTP and I would'nt bother with the HVII for the 1/4 they just do'nt produce ,seems like they lose some bottom end only to produce some top end gaines ,I've said this before to make a GT perform N/A you need a cam, head work(P&P +shaved 30K) and cam choice is important GT1 is a proven performer were as gt2 will need a higher stall convertor to get results. All in all a top swap or a SS M-90 will be just as cheap with better results,I'm not saying it ca'nt be done but most that have tried to make a GT fast end up going FI in the end so save yourself some time and money and learn from others that have tried.Chico(pops)
