I would start with the fluid, go to the e-brake, then take it to a garage.

Welcome to the site. good folk and info

if you've done anything down there you might have accidently hit the sensor and knocked it around, check that too, IIRC its behind the brake

Check the fluid level first. If it's low, the quick and easy fix is to fill it up with brake fluid.
If that is your problem, I would then suggest to check your front pads to see how much life you have left in them.

I would check your brake lines too. My grandfather just said that on his Taurus the light came on. He noticed low fluid, so he jsut filled it up. Then a few morning later he was about to go out, and saw a huge puddle. Well one of the brake lines lost the battle with mother nature. So he was lucky he wasn't driving. Just some precaution info for you.

Mine did that and it was time for new front brake pads, maybe that's your problem.

There is a sensor under the master cylinder reservoir too. It could be bad or loose. Gunk in the reservoir could cause misreadings as well... I don't know how the sensor works.

I have personally had two rear brake lines blow on a car while I was driving it. Luckily, I was on backroads and less than a couple miles from home when it happened. It still had brakes left, but not much... pedal just went to the floor.

its not the fluid cuz everything is perfect. I think it might be the sensor but if i can fix it without taking it in im gonna try n do that. My brake lines are in prefect condition. Im gonna replace all my brakes this weekend, maybe that will do something?? not sure yet but if that doesnt help than im gonna look at all the sensors and wipe them off to see if they have any dirt on them. where are the sensors located exactly?
