can you find it?

its actually way easier to see in person. dunno why the camera made it so hard. heard a little rock hit my windshield the other night (nothing too unusual), then when i got in my car in the morning i could see a 12" crack from the chip going up. so i tapped on it lightly with my fingers and now its at least 3 feet long (ouch!).

all this a few weeks after i paid to have a rock chip repaired!
well, the glass guys are coming today to replace it. im using "PPG" brand glass because I was recommended it was the best out there.

any recommendations or tips or stories before they get here? laugh

Yup, I can see that nasty crack!

This crack isn't in the same place they repaired the first chip is it? Just wondering. If it is, they should replace the windshield free. At least that's the way they do around here (Nashville area)and it's sure nice to keep from paying a big deductible.

Personally, I like to be there when they do the repair. That way, you can watch the guy and shoot the sh** with him while he does it. It doeosn't hurt to ask him questions. i.e., 'I hope I don't have any leaks'. He'll usually tell you he'll add a little extra adhesive so you won't! (Always a good sign)

Wow, that's a heck of a crack, and odd how it goes straight up. Normally glass cracks at odd angles.

Mine is chipped in the corner. Goes about 6" out from the A piller, then rotates 90 degrees straight down.

I don't have the cash for my deductible, and it's well out of my field of vision and HUD display, so I just drive with it.

yeah, we've been lucky not to get a chip in ours yet, but after having our toyota truck for 18 years i guess, the windshield finally got hit by something the other day and it crack it a bit.

I'm glad my insurance will throw a windshield in my car anytime, for FREE. For some reason, there's not even a deductible!

I wonder if you guys pay more for insurance than us. Someone is paying for your "free" glass.

I'd recommend the "Silblade" Silicone wiper blades at NAPA. They're $16 a piece, but they're guaranteed for 5 years, and the leave no streaks what-so-ever!

clicky for the silblade website

It's becasue of where you live and the lovely roads you have...it doesn't take much in "misery" to crack a windshield, due to the quality (or lack of quality) of the materials that goes into making the raods in your great state...no regulations to pass, if it looks good, it goes on the highway and is made into a road, just like nebraska's roads (and I-80 through new york from the conn. border) laugh laugh laugh

i could probably file a claim, but $240 is probably not worth taking my chances of rates going up from filing a claim. yes, they've done it.

I wouldn't recommend it. I filed a claim about a year ago for a cracked windshield back when I had a CRX and my rates went up like $200/yr.
