I have the same odd high pitched squeal. I kind of sounds like a turbo spooling up, right? It's the alternator. Mine works perfectly but it has that sound. You can really heard it if you go under the hood while the engine is running and use the throttle cable to rev it up.

Yep! That's it. Saves me the trouble of replacing the belt, though it wouldn't be a bad idea.

I removed the dealer sticker and gave it a good cleaning. Once I get my camera back I'll see if I can get some shots of the pitted spots.
