i was just looking at ebay for fun and saw ground wires for sale claiming better mileage, better throttle response and a couple other benefits.

is this a gimmick? i can understand if your grounds are bad and causing a problem but is there really any benefit?

My gut instinct is gimmick.

Ground wire would mess with how your car performs as far as electrical flukes. it would not make your car perform better regularly.

Best way to improve your ground is to sand off the paint and make sure your ground connetions are to bare metal. Beyond that, there is no real improvement that I have heard/seen.
