the stranded cable broke on my window regulator. the motor was fine. so i bought a aftermarket regulator and it would not lift the window. I swapped the new motor for the original GM motor and it works better. I finally sprayed some silicone on the window track and its ok but not great. maybe my window switch is funky.

I have 85K mile original window parts and they still fly up and down. Guess I'll have something to look forward to eventually. Do these windows gradually get slower before they crap out?

I bought my car with just over 50k on it and they were slow since the day I brought it home. They are much slower in cold weather.

I would figure the 2dr vs 4dr windows have a lot to do with it. maybe the window tracks are more prone to alignment issues on a 2dr. my 79 camaro had pwr windows and they worked fine in the winter. I never had the door panel off on the camaro but i bet the regulator was not cable driven.
