Well the wife told me the trunk was getting wet so I decided it was time for the hose washer mod on the spoiler to fix the leak. Let me tell you for those who have been too lazy to do it DO IT ASAP.

I did a temp fix to keep it from corroding any farther but because of the extreme cold I have to wait till it warms up to repaint under the spoiler properly.

I'm afraid of what I'll find under mine. That's why I haven't done it yet.
I may try to attempt it this spring.

that looks much better than mine did...I dont think part of my trunk lid was even painted.

I need to do mine this spring, but I'm a little confused at what parts I need to buy from the store.

Garden Hose washers, and a bit of silicone.

Also be prepared to do some serious buffing, and possible paint repair, as you can see in Hercs pics. Your's is much newer, so you prolly wont see any rust, but the paint will still need some attention.

The hose washers go between the spoiler and the trunk use one for each mounting stud. The silicone helps to seal out the water. I used silicone on both sides of the washer.

Ok, easier than I remembered. I thought someone said it required new bolts and hardware.

I used toilet tank washers...I think they were a better fit by being sized more like a fender washer and they could be more easly stacked if you wanted to. I found just one to be of sufficent thickness to shed the water.

I did my spoiler mod awhile back and it was definitely in need. I used doubled-up hose washers, painted to match body color and quality silicone to keep water out. The reason I doubled the washers was to allow pine debris and whatnot to be able to pass beneath the spoiler. It works quite well, excepting for large debris and whatnot which I manually remove. I will be doing this mod again in the spring to replace the washers and re-silicone to keep the seal tight.

That's nothing compared to mine!!!!! I'm talking two inches of corrosion around the mounting holes on mine.

I didnt apply silicone. Opps!

The silicone just helps prevent water from getting into the trunk.

Herc, you think all the corrosion is due to road salt?

I guarantee you it sped up the damage. All it takes is a little knick down to bare metal a little road salt and it's all over. That's why I did the rush temp fix. Up here once the cancer takes hold it spreads fast. Luckily I caught mine before it required metal work.
