since my car doesnt have the HUD the cubby to the right of the steering wheel is where I plan to locate mine.

From looking at the pics provided I just had an ugly little revelation...this is gonna be one of those lay on your back with the brake pedal knocking you in the head while you twist and try to work 12 inches in front of your face.

I can feel my back hurting already [LOL!]
Still gonna be a cool mod tho.
Actually.....

If you look at the picture of the connector, you can unbolt it (disconnect battery first!) and then you will have more room to work on it. I did that when I did the ignition saver mod.

I noticed the bolt when I looked at the pics and was wondering that very thing...thank you very much for confirming that can be done.

Now I'm mentally grinding on how I can add a flat piece of stock over the cubby hole and how to attach it. I'm sure once I take the dash panel off I'll get that one figured out. I'm gettin hyped about doing this but next week will be as soon as I can take crack at it. We'll have two guys in class next week and one on vacation so overtime will be abundant...but thats cool, a big week like that can probably help pay for my new wheels.

if you need to you, and it will take no more then an extra 30min and save your back but you can disconnect that whole harness and do all the work outside of the car.

What size fuse you suggest?
I may just do a 15 or 10, but that might be too low.

If you use a relay any momentary switch will do. Even a toggle switch.

I think you will need to run a 30 amp fuse.

the MAIN red wire coming IN to the ignition switch is protected by a 40 amp fuse. but that also takes care of all the accessories that run off the Orange accessory wire.

you do not absolutely NEED a fuse, BUT should something go wrong, a fuse is much cheaper than replacing melted wires.

and Hercman is right, any momentary switch will work, but what is a momentary switch? It is a switch that you have to HOLD in the on position, once you let off, the switch stays in the "OFF" position.

it is important to know that because I have seen switches at radio shack that are always "on" until you hold it in the "off" position. and you probably do not want your starter spinning constantly unless you are pushing down on a button.... lol

Isn't a toggle switch switch on and off, not momentary on or off?, even if using a relay.
Won't it continue to supply the power?

most switches in a car are going to be ON/OFF and not momentary.

this is the switch I used in the preschool teachers car. this one is not lighted, and it doesn't exactly look "cool". but it works.

isnt the red button normally the "eject" button?

I would advise against putting the "start" and "eject" buttons side by side........
