I used to always have a 4" dia K&N filter clamped right to the inlet of the novi1000. Well I bought some parts on ebay to rig up a FWI:
4"-3.5" silicone reducer
3.5"-3" silicone elbow
3.5" polished aluminum pipe
3" 45-degree aluminum pipe
T-bolt clamps
cone filter from autozone (my 9" long K&N doesn't fit)

Took an hour and a half to cut the metal and rig everything up. It is really tight where the elbow is going down into the fenderwell.
Took it for a drive and didn't notice much difference, but the engine wasn't heat-soaked yet. I think it sounds a little smoother on the screaming top end though.

Rook.. if you read this... how is that $25 "power-adder" cone filter from autozone? It seems comparable to a K&N. I had to buy it last minute cause thats all that fit the pipe I had. Didn't have room for my adapter rig to fit my 9" filter in there.

To keep it simple its a belt driven turbo.

Zuul arn't you worried about that coolant hose rubbing on the CSC?

Thanks everyone. More visual goodies to come once the headers are in.

... and no turbo lag!

I was worried at first but its been touching that spot since I installed it and it barely shows through the rubber. I might replace it with a stainless line and reposition it when I put in my powdercoated t-stat housing sometime.

update: driving to and from work today I got a better feel for the intake. I'm not absolutely sure I feel more power across the entire band, but it definetly is much smoother in the higher RPMs. I like it. Also pretty much killed my traces of KR at the top of 2nd gear.
