I just received my plog that I ordered from ZZP. I purchased the regular front plog with the optional cermanic coating for an additional $80. The plog's coating is real dark in color, almost black. I thought cermanic coating was suppose to be a shinny, almost silver looking paint. When I had my mustang back in the day, my cermanic coated headers looked nothing like this "cermanic" coated plog. I'm wondering if they sent me a plog with the wrong coating...

Yah, you must of got the painted one instead. Just a mistake. I bought the cermaic coated from them, year ago, and it was shiney. Plus it flaked off rather quickly too. I since have sold it.

After 5-7 months I think. Coating deteriorated quickly, flaking off.

The black ones are painted...mine was black but now is an ugly grey.

My plog arrived today and the coating does not look ceramic at all. It is a coating that is very dark in color, almost black. It looks like a regular hi-temp coating and not ceramic because I thought ceramic was suppose to be very shiny in color. Like I said, this plog is almost black. I paid for the ceramic coating. What can be done about this??

This is the response I just received:

Our high temp paint is FLAT black, our ceramic is either semi gloss black or semi gloss Dark-Dark grey almost black. I am sure you got the correct piece.

My camera is broken. I emailed ZZP back and this is what they replied:


We changed it like a year ago, that silver polished looking coating is only good for 1200*, the new “ceramic” coating is good to 1500*

Take a propane torch and blow thru the pipe for a while. See how hot the outside gets. If your brave enough, lightly heat the outside with your torch, gas stove or gas grill. The paint should burn off pretty easy compared to the ceramic coating.

I asked for ceramic coated with the shine!
