is to watch your pride and joy being town home frown , well getting off the highway on my way home from a 3 hour drive trip from my girlfriends, i went there friday and came back today, well getting off the highway, car starts chaking, i hear clunking noises, and BOOM car DEAD stops in the middle of the off ramp. Car will not move. Brakes are locked up, i get out, look at my passanger side front, a caliper bolt had fallen off, and the caliper had dug itself int my rim, now my rim has a about an 1/8 inch gouge all the way around the inside, with a small split mark, the caliper braket cracked, and the rotor looks to be split, i had to watch my car get town away while i head to the parts store frown , thankfully i got all the parts i needed and now its back on the road. After looking at my whole suspention i noticed today that my front strut mounts are going bad, and i have a broken front sway bar. Yippie, time to spend some more money, GMPP kit here i come.

Sorry to hear that.

As a lesson to others. Properly torque your caliper mounting bolts and use some lock-tite.

Sorry to hear about that; torque specs for the caliper bracket bolts are 133 lb ft for the fronts, 85 lb ft for the rears.

Had a neighbor have the same thing happen. Only his wheel didn't lock up but his aluminum rim was destroyed by the time he brought it to my house complaining of a loud grinding noise : no

Yes, I knew that but I rather pay $170 than $220. I'm not sure if ZZP have it on warehouse or order it from GM. If they order it from GM then you are out of luck.

My friend was doing a 4 wheel disc brake job on his buddy's Chevy Tahoe, commenting that the caliper bracket bolts were hard to remove (with hand tools), and that they shouldn't be that tight. I tried to tell him to Loc-Tite and torque the bolts, but he didn't listen. The Tahoe came back to bite him a few days later... wink

Agreed, when I couldn't get my car started and had to have it towed to someone who knew more than me, watching the tow truck pull away with my car on the back was very, very depressing.
