seveland is correct, and I believe they run high to mid 16s stock, which isn't bad at all...

Yep 200 hp as for 1/4 mile times each car is different it can be anywhere from high 15s to high 16s. Glad to see your enjoying your GP and welcome to the board.

Was researching buying either a 1977 Corvette or a 72 Mustang. My all time favorite body styles. The funny thing is, my car is more powerful than the 1977 Corvette’s 350 at 175 HP (another 350 had 225). Mustang had 168 HP on the two-barrel version and 246 on the 4-bbl. I test drove a 72. It was fun and I got a ton of attention but with the gasoline smell + the inexistent rear window line-of-sight, I didn’t feel super safe.

Sure I could have modified it but it would have been a maintenance headache. So I am happy w/ my car.

Therefore, CONGRATS on your purchase!!!!

Woo! Another GT! Yeah, like they said, you'll be getting 200 HP with um .. I think 220 torque. If it's a stock setup, it will depend on weather and elevation as to what it would run.

It's been humid and hot here recently, and with just custom catback and a 180* Tstat, my GT has run a 16.04. Crappy Texas heat. :p

And I'm going along with Austin here; how about some pictures of it!

I was wondering about getting a T-stat, but with no supporting mods, will it do anything at all??? I was reading about what it does, and it doesn't really seem necessary to have, but if it will actually increase acceleration, etc. I'll see about getting one. Can anyone answer this question??

A Tstat doesn't really need supporting mods, since it does a specific job by itself. If you get a 180 or anything less than the 195 stock, all it does is kick the fan on at that degree when the engine reaches it and gets the coolant running a little sooner than stock. Basically, it makes more effort keeping the engine colder, and colder engine = better usage of those 200 horses.

Only thing to be careful of is keeping it -too- cold. I think you'd only have to worry about that if you got a 160 and it's really cold where you live. You have a pretty good chance of getting a SES light, because the engine won't warm up to the right temperature, and the PCM will think something is wrong.

Arc the cargal strikes again...dead on answer there girl...a Tstat change will make a bigger difference in a warmer climate by helping to keep the engine cooler...and cooler engine means the PCM can run the max amount of engine timing for peak power...this becomes much more crucial on the L67 engine since the pressurized intake creates more heat...welcome aboard RedCurlz! always nice to see another GT come into the fold...and yes we are picture hounds here so lets see some shots of this slick new ride...and fire away about anything you need...these are great cars arent they?!

Actually the 180 degree t-stat by itself will not change your fan's behavior. It will simply open at 180 degrees instead of 195, therefore circulating your coolant to the radiator.
Full advantage is taken when you also have an aftermarket PCM. It is THEN that the fans will kick on at 185.

... i think smile

zuul is correct about the Tstat and fan. Aftermarket PCMs change the fans behavior or their is a switch you can install it's called the High speed fan switch. It is available at many of our vendors.

Too bad PCMs Codes are hard to crack, or else i would mod it myself. 200 some dollars for a new PCM is too much in my opinion. Seeing the other thread in which an intense PCM crapped out, isn't helping me any to buy one, either.

I think i will wait till I win the lottery...

That's my PCM that crapped out.
I still definetly recommend getting one! Just save your stock one just in case you have a problem or need to compare scans, sell the car, etc...
