I'm lookin to get some rims for my car, I'm just wondering if I should go with big 20's or just keep to a smaller size on my ride. I'm not wanting to spend a whole lot and just lookin for my ride to look cleaner. Any suggestions would be nice of where to go to get em done, cause I'm not lookin to spend alot at all, and that means like under 800 or so...maybe 1000 if it includes tires.

i wouldnt really suggest 20's even though i just got them, unless it has low mileage, a lot of stuff on my car is gonna go bad fast. 18's look really good on a lot of our cars, you could do really nice 18's for 800-1000 with tires, easy

Hey thanks for the advice, your kinda right, 20's almost look to big for a grand prix imo (look good on ur ride) but my car has 50k on it at moment, not much i suppose but ya, i dont want it to go bad, so i'll go with 18's, thanks for the advice man, much appricated.

18x8.5 38mm offset 6.5" backspacing 4X115 bolt pattern is what I suggest for a rim.

I got 18x9" and they are just a tad too wide for my taste.

245/45/18 is the largest tire you can get without problems

I got my whole setup for 1101.00. This includes 4 new AFS 05'+ Bullitt rims, 4 Pirelli P-Zero used tires (off ebay), 4 anodized valve stems, set of tuner lug nuts, force balancing and mounting at local garage ($130.00)

i like "17's or "18's. Remember the price per rim might not be that much more. But rapping those monsters isn't cheap.

You will actually need 5x115... probably just a typo on his part, but do not order 4x115 regardless!

I like 18s. I have 17s and they are still a tad small. But it was a good deal.

Go with 18" Polo's. I love them on my grand Am. 20's make for a bumpy ride on lopros

18's are about as high as I'd go... I've got 17x8's on mine write now with 255/45/17 rubber.

Yes, you can fit a 255 tire on our cars, but you have to make sure the offset and width are correct. The offset on mine are 35mm and I don't usually have any issues unless the car is loaded down and even then it only rubs when I hit a large bump or pothole. If I rolled the fenders it wouldn't be an issue at all.

At moment i've got stock 16" Rims on my ride lol with the general goodyear tires in the back (the ones that came with it) and some sagitta or some brand name tires up front (they do the job) and it rides fairly smooth, imma get all around new tires here shortly, may have to skip out on rims, but a new set of nice tires is always nice:)

My vote goes to silver TQ stars. By far the best looking rim on a GP. Polished 5 stars if you've got a red one come in a close 2nd.

20's, yikes....

Hey guys...does the 18's closes some of that gap above the tires, to avoid that 4x4 look...or, is it a Fact, that the Only way to get rid of that look, is by lowering the GP?

And, is it Necessary to make ANY other Mods To the Suspension, if One upgrade to 18's?

18s fit with no issues as long as you stick to the proper offset window (35 to 45)...245/45/18 is the max tire size you can go although I believe we do have one member running 255s but I dont know if he has any clearance problems.
Even with the 18s, the 245/45 tire is almost the same diameter as you stock 225/60/16 so the wheel gap issue will remain. I believe AustinGTP is running 235/55/17s on his and the stock ride height looks good, but that is a taller than stock tire but fits with no issues I'm sure.

**** Urgent Reply Needed ****

Hey SlickGTP or Any of the Wheel/Tire Expert here...can You tell Me, if I could fit some 255/40/18 mounted on some 18x8 under the Fender without any problem?

I just bought these Beautiful Black Sacchi's and a Friend offer to sell Me some 255/40/18...that He claims will fit Fine, in the rear. You said that the 255/45/17 fit, but will His 255/40/18 Fit the GP? He has a Buyer...but, He is Hoping to save Them for Me.

Can Anyone Help Me Decide?

With a 38mm offset and 245/45/18 I had like 1-2mm clearance on the inside rear. I personally don't think you will get the to fit without rubbing unless the offset is more (or less depending on how the offset number works)

RD: Depends on the offset of the wheel and if you have the car lowered, etc. Need more details before I can give you a good opinion.

Hey Guys the wheels are 18x8 & the Dealers Insist that they will definitely fit the GP...so, I am Imagining that the Off-set is in the Vecinity 38.

Now, I wouldn't have even Imagine...that a 275 would fit under the Fender without Rubbing on Something, with the wheel being 17, 18, or Other.

So, if I Understand this Correctly...if a 275/45 fits the GP with a 17"...then a 255/40 should fit Fine, with a 18" Wheel if the Off-set is some what Close to 38?

Is that more or, Less...the way it Works?

How in the h-ll did you get those to fit??? I thought that even for 255's you had to roll the fenders. Seems like you'd be rubbing your strut assembly with a tire that wide

Hey JPGP...Those are some Beautiful Wheels! Are You planning on replacing the Center Cap for some Pontiac's?

My GTP is Grey, so I prefer the Black Wheels...I Think they really match the "Gray Iridescent" original Paint & I am Not into the Chrome look.

But, I just wanted to say "Thanks" to You Guys. You have All been Great...in Helping Me decide. But, since the Summer is all over, I Think I will get the 255/40/18 Tires for the rear(just for that Great Look & Stability)...& I will stick to 235's or 245's for the Front, & wait for next Spring to put them All on.

And, even if some of You are Wrong about the Fitment, it's Ok! You have still Offered Lots of Help...& I Really Appreciate it.

Once I get My Baby, all together...I will Post some pics, to show off "Your Suggestions".

"Yours", because...I would still be running around, & Wondering what fits & what doesn't, & also Buying & paying $$$$ to return Item that just didn't Fit.

Hope I can Help in some way, sometime...
