Supporting mods are a must. Just swapping the pulley itself is aking for trouble. to quote Pops, "You gotta pay to play!". The TRUTH!

it all depends on what your looking for and what your budget is....

Fast, Cheep, Relyable.... you can only pick two

the First set of perf mods that should be done are: a Fender Well Intake (FWI) can be home built just do searches for these for how to build one. and the next would be to get rid of that Ubend in the exhaust. if you plan on doing a down pipe... just get the down pipe sooner and that will replace the Ubend. Lastly you should be runing a 180* thermostat.

i recommend this to anyone with any art or mech ability... get a dremal and learn to use it! you can unlock a great deal of power with that dremal... just by port matching things like your TB and smoothing out curves you can do a great deal of good for HP and MPG. for beginners it is a good idea to use lots of tape on gasket surfaces and areas where you know you dont want to cut. this way when the dremal slips (yes it will slip!) you dont damage anything important.

Lastly find someone in your area with a tuner. buy em some drinks do what it takes to become friends...tuning alone with make a great deal of good for your car.

dont just drop a pulley without doing some reading and learning. You need supporting mods

What you have to understand is a smaller pulley increaces boost which creates more heat so you need to mod to make this extra power useable,Intake (a CAI or FWI) and exhaust I suggest a Powerlog and ported rear with a 3" dp and of course a colder thermostat (180) and of course tuning or at least an aftemarket PCM and some way to moniter KR,as far as porting with a dremel do yourelf a favour get a die grinder or better yet get a ZZP ported SCcase or Triple edge performance ,these basic mods will allow you to drop to a 3.5" pulley safely but dropping smaller will most likely require 1.9 rockers ect.,although some have managed to run a 3.4" with less mods knock free everycar is different that's why scanning is so important.Chico(pops)
