Whats the highest speed you got up to in your gp?

I did 140 mph then backed down... considerinring if you are 50 over the speed limit here they can take your liscence and car

hud said 129mph. but when i got a chance to look at my gps a little later it said i hit a speed of 131.

its very strange to be going 50mph faster than everyone else

got it up to 100 once before all the mods.

Now I get to 100 in just a quarter mile...

Took it to 100 on it's test drive a year ago. Yesterday I hit 90 passing 2 semi's going slightly downhill.

110, said my gps, the spedo said 105, where the comp maxes it out.

Hit 116 racing a Subaru WRX (I won) and a couple months later hit 117 on my way back from the track racing an Integra that tried to do a ricer fly by. He failed.

I chickened out at 120. To afraid of the po-po.

My dads comp-g took me up to 135 before i ran out of room.

HUD said 147. i backed down becuase the car started to shake really bad, and i wasnt sure if my tires could handle the speed. Also was affraid of cops even though i have a nice big stretch by my house where you can see everything in front of you and see if there are cops or anything.

travelling at 147 or even 110, no matter how far you can see, you'll never get slowed down enough before he has the radar on you.

as far as backing down, if your goin 110 you might as well go for gold, you're going to be ****ed if you get caught anyways.

my hud stops at 200 km, 114 mph? so idk anything after that.

Intense managed to break the 200mph barrior at the Bonneville Salt flats with a Bonneville !!!

ive gone 110 on the PA turnpike in central PA where there are not many cops but they use aircraft to catch speeders so i tried to keep my self controlled after that.

how fast will our comp let us go? 139?

i think 126ish with the stock PCM for a GTP.

At 147 you may have been hitting the limits of the tires, but you also may have been hitting the limits of the car's stock design from a standpoint of aerodynamics. Though we have a air spoiler on the front and a spoiler on the back they seem to be more for show than for function.....ours were designed to top out at 125.......Not quite like an Audi or BMW which has a air dam that serves thus purpose on the engine guard underneath the car along with functional spoilers and was designed for 150mph + on the autobahn.

I believe aero top end is closer to 160 on the GP.

The HP required to overcome the drag increases dramatically so much so that you need an exotic set up like twin turbo etc.

So, it's not like the car falls apart, it's just that you can't accelerate anymore?

exactly. The aero drag increases to a point that the power required to accellerate/maintain escelates at a much higher rate the the drag increase does.

Example (not real numbers just for ease of use and clarity)at say 150 mph on the GP the drag is say 3.0 and requires 300hp to maintain 150. Now increase the speed to 155 and the drag goes to 3.2 but the power required will climb from 300 to 350. The faster the GP gets the higher the drag and the rediculously more hp it takes to get there.

I remember an article MT did back in the early to mid 90s with 140mph club. The Mustang couldn't make the grade because aerodynamically it couldn't get there. It only made 140mph when the test crew removed the wipers and duct taped all the hood/fender seams and covered some holes. Only then would it break through the 140 without engine mods.

I was young and stupid. It was like 4 years ago. My 3100 engine can reach up to 110 mph until this car shut it down and cut about 5-10 mph back. It might slow but it can reach 110 mph.

In past 2 years, my car always top 55 mph only. Sometimes 65 but not very much. I'm into great gas saver. I can tell I saved like over $500 or whatever over 2 years. I know you all impatient speeding but I take my time to leave early like 10-15 minutes than your habit time.

yea, my parents SE tops out at 110 but its revving at like 5500 when its up there and it takes fooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooorever.

i topped out my SE at 110 and i topped out my GT at 115(according to the HUD) LOL

i wish my GT before had an HUD! i pinned that speedo on my GT when i had it, i do miss that car, not as much as the GTP tho.

fastest ive got the GP up 2 was 152mph on the last engine it was still pulling... havent done a top speed pass on this one yet...

top speed on my new malibu is 112 found that out the first day of owning the car it had ?26? miles on it
