Why the hell is it sooo hard to tune a 97 top swapped gt? Sorry just so fustrated and im losing faith in the new person tuning my car. Went there last night and his PT was working tried to uninstall reinstall and wasnt able to get all files uploaded so nothing got done. he said he was on a board and someone i guess spliced the 2 files together, meaning the 97 gt tran files with a 97 gtp motor files. and stated he wasnt sure if that would work..... when i confronted him that the tranny needs to see boost he arrogantly snapped at me saying why should the tranny know what the motor does. I really dont want to pay 100 something for a zzp bin file but its sounds like the best route to take right now. im not enjoying the bad fuel economy nor the supercharger belt in the back seat. my question is how do u write the pcm? do you keep gt file and add certain things or do you use a gtp file?

use a gtp file then change the gear ratio, if you have a stock file i could prolly do it for you then email it to you to upload
edit, i will be driving back to my hometown for the night, and its going to be very boring with my fam so i will bring the tuning laptop home, and see if i can find a 97gtp file and see what i can do

Ok here is what I found the ZZP file works!!! and the trans. has to see boost ,the only tuning I've needed is a little fuel and timing tweeking ,and the so called top swap problem when cold was cured by using the Reptile HP GM IAC ,so I suggest you start frm the beginning and lose your tuner guy because he obviosly does'nt understand the quirks of the 97,first off check your vacuum line routing.Chico(pops)

so you pretty much have to use their file, no way around it? have u looked at the settings? if so does it appear to be a gtp file or gt? i spent soo much already another 120 or so for a bin file is a lil steep if it can be done by my org turner.

Sorry I'm no tuner I'm an old school mechanic and leave the tuning to the experts, all I know is with the ZZP tune (out of the box ) everything worked OK but with my guy tuning it I gained about 30hp .Chico(pops)

I have seen a DHP GTP file compared to a stock GTP file, and there is not that much difference......
not sure if zzp does more, but I was kind of surprised.
I have not personally delt with overkill, but maybe it would be worth a shot to email him and at least get a recommendation from him on what you should do. He probably will not tell you exactly what he does, but at least he could point you in the right direction since its the 97 year.

Yha man, there isn't much difference. Dave and I scoped that out to compare changes he's made to say the ZZP stock file, isn't much done.Basically all that is done is what they post under their pcm purchase.

Isn't that the point as to why they list all that? That's what they do to it. What did you guys expect?
