I went to a Firestone dealer to look at tires and actually saw some tires I liked and at a decent price. I was curious what everyone thinks about Firestone tires. It wasn't a brand I was even thinking about. After all their whole tire scandal I kinda didn't think to highly of them. But I guess a tire is a tire.

I was look at Bridgstone Insignia SE200 set of 4 for
70,000 mile tires $471.00 out the door with 4 wheel alignment included.

or firestone fr380 which are 50,000 mile tires and its 361.00 out the door alignment included.

or kenetica's that are 40,000 314.00 out the door alignment included.

I just want some good all season tires seeing as i'm driving in the winter too.

Personally I would not feel safe with tires from a co. who produced tires that blew apart at freeway speeds ,they may have remedied there problems but I tend to follow the racers lead when it comes to brand names go to any track and see what they run ,again there are to many other tire co's out there with better reputations to choose a co. I have two of the Insignia SE200's in the front of my 2002 SE, and they are great tires. They were road hazard replacements for the old Firestone Supreme SI's. They are not performance tires, but the mileage warranty is great, and they handle quite well. If you have a Tires Plus around, check them out, they are the same company as the Firestone Car Car centers, and usually can beat their deals (at least thats according to the manager at my local one).

I'm not a heavy modder, just an everyday driver.

As for being Bridgestone/Firestone tires, the only problems they ever had were SUV tires from one plant, and Ford having the manual either over or underinflate the tires. I have had no major issues with their tires since I first purchased them in 2004.

And don't forget Firestone also had the same problem in the 70's with the Firestone 500 tires. Blowing out randomly. Burn me once; shame on you. Burn me twice; shame on me.

I will avoid the maypop tires from Firestone.

Firestone has a reputation in the tire industry for tread separation. This is why I never bought them to begin with, then the recall a few years ago just proved it all
