My cousin's car is a 2003. He bought the 03 model because he thought the 04's were fugly. I don't know what all the fuss is. What is so difficult to understand? There are laws of physics going on here. A 3800 lb car has more mass to move than a 3300 lb car. Eventhough the heavier car has 50 more horsepower, it's still 500lbs more to move. A close ratio 6 speed helps, but it's still 500 lbs. And Consumer Reports is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a reliable source of info. If I was trying to find performance data on a car, that would be the last place I looked. They are consistantly wrong. I use Motor Trend, Car and Driver, and I check club sights to read first hand postings.

Thats because I weigh ~3500 lbs and have ~350hp :p 170mph wasnt all that hard to hit. BTW..speedo ends at 150mph...so you have to go by a gear calculator. 5300rpm in OD ... Stock LS1 Camaros top at 162 because of a fuel cutoff...the same engine in a C5 Corvette is capable of 175+ in stock form. No bullshit to call.

If we were talking an M series....two vehicles one with SIGNIFICANTLY less hp claims to have pulled on the other... hmm... From experience... The GTP I test drove DROPPED off badly at 100mph... and was dying from 80 on up to that point.. I call bs too wink sorry.

It's not an M5. Read the posts. I didn't question your claim. Relax.

my absolute dream would be to build a GTP sleeper. normal on the outside but inside full of piss and vinegar. I have beaten a few Japs, but never touched a newer Bmer except for one of the puny ones. The base models , though with less power, still have a good start and may give you run for your money. For certain, German engineering is superior - look who came up with all the good stuff. I mean even von Brown was German and he is the father of the modern jet engine. Sad thing is that all good tech is first used to kill man then to better it.

Hmmmm GTP sleeper..... first off needs to be a four door, De Badge, then remove the rear spoiler, install front and rear clip from a 97 SE, remove the dual tipped exhaust go with one free flowin muffler. Cant get much more of a sleeper then that with the GPs smile
