my car is running so pourly right now...its missfiring every five minutes if it even takes THAT long...my plug wires are still under warrenty so i'm gonna replace those as well as check/put in new plugs...i've got Autolite platinums(?)on hold for me i'm heading out to go pick them up. I'm very skeptical of it being plugs/wires because i replaced those in the spring...and i've been running nothing but 93 octane, could it be coils? injectors? what else could be going wrong with my car!?!?!?!

Check the coils for corrosion, on the coil towers as well as the grounds. Look for carbon tracking on the towers also. Keep the plugs in order when you remove them; see if they're getting fouled with gas or anti-freeze. Could be time to replace that MAF sensor too. Good Luck!

the platinums are your first mistake... the high combustion temps of these SC'd motors do not like plat plugs... jus stick with the copper plugs i would recomend autolite 104's with prob a .055 gap. that should help out.

when was the fuel filter changed? how about a vac leak? what does the car idle at? does giving the car gas help any with the misfires? also how do the battery terminals look? are they clean?

Is it throwing any codes? That would really help you/us to eliminate possibilities and maybe narrow it down some.

he wasnt having the probs with the plat. plugs in, he said they were on hold and he was going to pick them up, i dont think its the plugs then.

Platinums cause knock under boost, that is why we avoid them. They won't affect idle, stock plugs are platinum.

Find out where's it's misfiring and go from there. If it's a single cylinder, focus on wire and coils. Last case, injector. If it's all cylinders, look for vacuum leaks and sensor issues... maf perhaps?

i figured out the problem...AZ said it was #3 cylinder missfiring so i checked it out and noticed the plug wire had found a very comfortable spot resting on my exhuast manifold, cooked the wire i guess...i replaced the wire and we're all golden again.

So those autolite platinums are junk in my car eh?

Any plug that has small spots like the platinum tips are causes of KR. They hold heat and cause preignition in force inducted motors. Solid cores are better.

Can't go wrong with under $12 Autolites, and most performance enhanced gper's are running them!
