Does anyone know how hard or how expensive it would be to put a supercharger on a Grand Prix GT? I know the GT and GTP have different motors, but I read on ZZP that they have one made and were testing it. What I read was last updated in Dec 01 so I don't know how thats going.

According to the info I have gathered from reading all of the threads, here is the deal.

The CSC kit will come in 2 or more stages.

The first stage will be about ~$3200 or so and will include all mounting brackets and the CSC itself (a Paxton Novi 1000).

A stage 2 will be released later, that will include an intercooler as well, but you will have to replace your fuel pump and injectors and possibly tranny before you are able to do this mod safely.

All of that info, I have pieced together from what Matt M (of IPS - the company that is making the kit) and Zooomer (of ZZP, the company that is going to be selling the kit) have either told me personally or posted on public forums.

FWIW :p

Thanks, I'll just tell my friend to by a GTP, and forget about whatever savings he thought he might get from a GT with an aftermarket supercharger

While he won't save any money, a CSC GT should be a good 1/2 second faster then a stock GTP in the quarter. As for upgrading the injectors and fuel pump L67 versions of these should be enough to fuel an L36 up to 400hp. Your friend should be able to put his hands on these for a reasonable price via salvage yards.

How do you figure a whole half second? That is alot when it comes to drag racing.

Actually I was being conservative. Its probably more. A stock GTP runs about a 14.8 quater? Is that fair?
Matt of IPS (developer of the CSC for the GTs) ran a 13.2 with just rockers and a catback. The catback will maybe get you a 10th (thats generous) and the rockers about 3 tenths (again probably generous). That would put a GT with just a CSC at a 13.7 over 1 second faster then the stock GTP.
Now add those rockers, 3" downpipe, catback, fuel pump, injectors, and the IC'd CSC and you have a mid-low 12 second car easily... if you can keep the tranny in one peice.

I should note, that replacing the M90 on a GTP with a CSC or turbo will yeild even faster times (dare I say 11s) due to its ability to run more boost, but thats not really what this thread is about.
