I just bought a 1997 GTP. The supercharger oil has been changed once by the pervious owner, but needs it again. How do I change it or do I have to take it into the dealer? and how much oil do I have to replace it with? Thanks alot!

get some fish tank tubing and a syrringe and then remove a plug, suck out the oil and replace with the same volume. I am trying to find out myself if using better oil is good or using GM sufficient.

I have never changed the oil in the supercharger and I don't know if the previous owner did it, but I did ask the GM garage if it is necessary and they told me that it should only be checked and changing it isn't soemthing I should do. Anybody have any opinions....I am not sure bout this

The didnt think I had to change it either...but I e-mailed grandprixstore about the oil cuase mine was low and they told me that I should change it ever 30,000 miles and thats what the book says too....so I dont know

Yes, definitely change the oil every 30k! Think of it like your engine oil, only it needs less frequent changing. It's easy to do with an (old)turkey baster and tubing. You'll need two bottles GM part# 1234-5982. Suck out as much of the old oil as possible. Then fill the oil up to the level of the drain plug access hole. It cost me $14 to do this. Cheap insurance! Remember that at our upper engine RPM our S/C gears are turning 14,000 RPM!

Yeah... what Steve said! Really though, he offers pretty good advice. Many people have neglected their SC by not changing the oil. Any service department that tells you you should let them do it, is simply trying to screw you out of your money. Either that or they know you're all thumbs... you take your pick.

I don't know of any other oil, other than the GM oil Steve referenced above.

you bet. Of the top of my head the number is S/C oil 1234-4582 but dont quote me on that one. It comes in little bottles around 100 mL. Have fun. REMEMBER IT STINKS LIKE PUTRID GARBAGE!!
