its the blower resistor that is inop. it is mounted right near the blower motor and is a pain to change too.

most likely has to do with the control head, but could also be the BCM (highly unlikely). I'd check the blo mo res again to make sure my fix worked

Hello, Long time reader first time poster!

pmgtp97 if your still out their, did you ever get this problem fixed? My '97 is having the same problem. First four speeds on blower don't work, and when turned on to first four speeds my DIC and head lights go out. But if I turn my headlights on with the switch they will stay on and just the DIC goes out.

I know this is a really old thread to bring back up but if anybody could help me, that would be great.

Thanks, this is a great forum!

You've got something funky going on there. Do you know how to read schematics? If so take a look at this and see what all those systems have in common and you can concentrate in a general area.

If the link don't work for you there is a wiring diagram on the DIY page of my website.

Yes, that's what I was wondering. I'll have to break down and buy a service manual for this car. I was thinking the resistor too, but haven't swap it out yet to see if that cures the problem. It could also be a short somewhere drawing down voltage. If and when I figure it out I'll let you all know or if someone else has any idea what it me be let me know.

Thanks

An update on my problem.

I'm thinking its the ignition switch, the contacs are probably burnt or dirty. I ordered a new switch ($61.55+s/h). I'll let you know for sure if that was the problem in a few days.
