Goes along with my underhood RED theme!! $172 later... Can I find caps somewhere to put on the top terminals? I couldn't get the lid to fit, I didn't try hard, nor did I like the lid. So I started the car and it gave me an errr and lights didn't come on that great. Thought it was just me not turning the key. I made a stop and then got back in and tried it again, same thing. The Aeroforce is giving me 14.3 avg volts, which is what I usually run around at. What do I need to do? I read all these posts on alt and battery failures, but since I never had an issue I never paid to much attention to them. The battery and alt are both stock, 2002 75,xxx miles.

Ok. I think it is the battery. While runing I am getting 14.5 at the bat. And with it off I am getting 10.7, it should be holding over 12 at the bat. So I think time for a new bat, the 7 year life doesn't look like it will make it there. Now which beast to get, once I get it tested? I want something decent fellas and gals!!

LOL. I think mine is ok. I just saw this: http://www.optimabatteries.com/domestic_performance/find_your_optima/ Which red top do I choose at the parts store? Or the fellas there should know? Oh and what price range should I be looking for if I go optima red top?

Red tops land in the $150-$180 range depending on warranty and cranking amps. The base one will do fine, but it looks different from the typical Optima battery.
Word of warning: In recent years, Optimas have been hit or miss in quality. If you get a good one, it will last years. A bad one might die in one year. Make sure you get one with the 3y/r free replacement warranty if you do get one. Also, if you get it at AutoZone, their warranty is nationwide... so you can swap it in almost any city with your phone number.

I ran on my stock battery for 7 years as well, and the guy was kinda mad at me that worked at autozone, and I got a energizer battery, and its worked well for me so far, I think i replaced the battery in the summertime/fall

They get tossed when they're installed anyway. :p Besides the cover that comes with the Optima, I don't know of any other 'nice looking' solution.

I have to get a warentee here in AZ, the heat, most batterys have a life span of two years, even the Optima. I always go for the Yellow top, only cuz I have Amps and Subs running on them too, and Yellow top is great for it!
