My last post got me thinking.... since DHP doesn't make the powrtuner anymore (are they even a company still?)... am I free to go and tune other people's cars with my tuner?

Only if your tuner has support for those cars.
What support do you have?
My buddy who tunes mine, only has support for 97 and newer L67 and his DOHC 3400 in his Monte.
And with DHP being gone, I don't believe he can get support for anything else, plus there is only two slots allowed for support, two vehicles.

If you mean Digital Horsepower Inc., I was just in contact with them on a question about their PCM. They appear to be in business, as of 2 weeks ago that is.

As far as I'm concerned, DHP can stick it. I will tune anyone and everyone I like within my '98-03 range that my tuner is unlocked. I didn't buy a $400 piece of hardware/software to have no subsequent support from the company or bugs fixed. Eddie even made a tool that allowed editing of hidden parameters and DHP made him quit. Way to help your user base by restricting their options.

Plenty of people could improve the software, but DHP won't let them or even talk to them about it. They could at least make it open source since they aren't making it anymore... but they probably fear losing money if someone else picks it up again. Whatever.
