I have a question for all the experts out there about what maintenance I should have done on my 98 GTP now that I've hit 60,000 miles.

I know I need the following:
DEX Coolant Flush
New Brake pads
Oil Change

The dealer also recommended:
Battery Clean (sounded hokey to me)
Air Filter
PCV
Fuel Filter

What's everyone's opinions on the dealer's recommendations and is there anything else I should do? Also are jobs like replacing the PCV and Fuel Filter do-able by an layman?

I've also seen posts recommending changing the supercharger oil, I've checked and filled mine but never replaced it.

Thanks for your feedback.

at this stage of the life you should also look very closely at the belts. I am replacing mine completely and installing a gatorback for the supercharger belt. Tranny fluid should be changed more regularily then recommended by dealer. The more you change the fluid less damage and wear will result due to the varnishing of the old fluid on the friction pads of the tranny. I would recommend getting someone at the dealership to look at your gas lines and so forth. Spark plugs, wires should also be replaced and if you get a tune-up that will be all included with a gas filter also.

how hard is it to change the tranny fluid and supercharger oil...is this an all day project or something for the dealer to accomplish....I don' think my 98 gtp has had either ever done...it has 91k on it....

the s/c fluid is easy to change. There is a little post going about that but I change mine every 20,000 miles ( cheap insurance . The A/T fluid is a bit more difficult. There has been some great posts from Gary in the past about it. Use a vacuumm suction ( vacuum bottle ) and it takes about 10 minutes. You can only replace 1/2 of the fluid as the rest is held up by the converter but you do it every oil change and the most mechanically and electronically intricate part of your car - transmission will be really happy with you. Both changes will take less then 1/2 hour.

The fuel filter replacement is "easy" but i wouldn't say VERY easy. I could never quite find the right sized open-end wrench for the fuel-line side, so it was to the crescent wrench for me..

Just remember before you swap the filter, pull the fuel pump fuse and run the engine 'til it dies. Even then you'll get maybe a half cup of fuel out the lines, so keep rags and buckets nearby.
