so I was leaving work today in the dark. I sped up to 53 in a 50 zone. What do you know I get pulled over for going 60. THank goodness for my HUD becuase I told the lady who pulls me over shes full of it. But the thing is I got my busted winshield. SHe gave me a ticket for that. Guys in michigan anyone have any idea what the ticket will probably cost. ALso is there any points given for having one. This is my first offence for this as well. Please answer thanks

I don't think there is points for that. I would say should be under $78. Doesn't it say on the ticket?

Why is your windshield broke? I know in some states they come to your house and fix the windshield for free, up to 2 times.

At least you weren't jumping up all the way through 2nd gear in a 55 zone and got clocked at 75 and thankfully, reduced to 71.

That's a $186 ticket in Wisconsin and a 4 point (8 for me) reduction.

Oh, and if you *know* you weren't going that fast, ask to see the radar. I'm preeety sure they are legally obligated to show you.

Michigan is cash strapped and will write you up for anything. Anytime I've been pulled over they had a price list attached to the ticket so you knew what it was going to cost you, or they had a number to call.

yeah its pretty pathetic in my opinion. I think if gonna get it replaced then have a guy I know who is a cop write me off so when I got to the court house they may just waive the fee. in all honesty I was going 54 in 50 which changed to 45. Funny part was when they said I was going 60. I was like ahh I dont think so I was going 54, and I know because of my heads up display. The other funny part is I raced out of work because the guy who is training me is really pissing me off right now. lol

no points, dont know how much it will cost and tickets dont say in michigan, they give you a phone number to call to find out the joyful news. and the repair for free thing is only for window chips, not cracks.

and it also depends, the cops radar guns have to modes one for sitting still and one for driving... if they have the mode on where they are suposto sit still they could clock trees and bridges moving 60mph

also the cop has to clear out the previous speed for the previous person otherwise it clocks you doing the speed that the previous person went....

here in my town we allways ask to see the radar so we can see for our self

I got pulled over after coming off a side street onto Euclid in the middle of BC, full posi action, smoke rollin off of both tires about 70* sideways to the lane i was in. By a Mi State Trooper no less and he comes up and goes "have you been drinking" i go "uh, no", he takes my stuff and runs it then comes back and goes "ok, well i pulled you over because your windshield is cracked, get it fixed". I remember those little price/point sheets they used to have, my brother used to get them all the time those were awesome. Now you have to wait for like a week then call the number on the ticket. Which you cant barely fricken read anyway because they type all your info into a computer now and print your ticket with like a fricken 1982 Apple dot-matrix printer. I HATE THEM ALL!

Michigan Drivers Responsibility Act is the worst thing to get nailed with. After paying the court for them losing my insurance info, they wanted anoter $250/yr for 2 years for not having insurance which I did have. I had to get a official letter from the court and send it to Lansing to not have to pay the $500 total. Got pulled over for 10 over, written up for 5, ended up costing me $225 plus points.

I didnt have it on me when I was pulled over. I called the court house and gave them my info. 6 weeks later I got a friendly letter telling me that I needed to appear at the court house show them my proof of insurance. I showed them the insurance they told me it was a $115 fine. I asked if I fought it would I have a shot at winning. The clerk said that if I tried fighting it I'd just be spending another $40 on top the $115.
