So...last night i was sitting at my girl's house with her brother and all of our friends...after a while two guys wanted to race each other...one had a 94 dakota 2wd with a 318, the other has a 95 integra...just has an exhaust. While they were getting ready to race another kid there said he wanted to race me...he's drivin a late 60's early 70's dodge ram R/T...he rebuilt the motor...nothing but performance parts supposedly. Well...the dakota barely beat the integra, then it was me and the R/T, at first my girl's brother was driving...the GTP spanked him...then the R/T's owner wanted to try...he did better with a nice launch...and pulled ahead for about half a second...after my tires grabbed i easily pulled past him, then i left off casue the kid in the integra was up ahead cruizing in my lane so i didn't wanna rearend him at 100...the only thing i didn't like(beside's my launches but i didn't even try for a good launch)was after i got up in the 90's it seemed like my car was "stuttering"? i didn't throw a code at all...could it have been Knock Retard?

What do you mean "studdering?" Shaking? Loss of acceleration? Engine making wierd noises?

Oh and congrats thats awesome.

I have some KR in that speed range right now. But I do have mods. But that doesn't mean your car won't have KR in that range. It is possible but clarifying this stuttering would help.

it's harder to explain than i thought..."stuttering" may not have been the proper word to describe it...maybe surging is better...after i got past 90 it was still accelerating quickly but it didn't seem to have 100% power...like it was it was getting starved for gas or something...i dunno i can't really explain it, maybe someone could chime in with what KR feels like...can you even tell you have KR? i dunno...

By the way...the truck has a 360 in it...and the kid went crazy putting so many high-perf. parts on it...and still lost to a stock gtp... laugh

From what I understand, unless you're drowning in KR, you don't really feel it, your car is simply slower because of all the timing the PCM pulls.

x2. I really think that it is a misfire, but it should have thrown a code.

Check your plugs/wires

Stock GTP's don't really do well in the upper RPM ranges... Can't breath well enough...

The M90 gets less effecient I hear, in upper RPM ranges.

You shouldn't feel light-medium KR. It sounds like your KR was maxing out (around 14* ...ouch) OR you had a huge fueling issue.
You need to get scanned if it happens again.

While its fairly normal to get more KR at higher speeds, it shouldn't be a TON more than in lower gears.

so i'm gonna take a guess and say its about time to let the gtp breath better? CAI, Downpipe, u-bend delete? would that help me out?

Definetly. U-bend delete should be taken care of with the downpipe too. You could get a PCM and throw in a 180* thermostat on top of exhaust and intake.

After i save up some money i'm gonna make a cai, and do a downpipe and u-bend delete. After that i'll get a PCM, and maybe some FM's? i'm scared of how it'll sound for some reason...but that's my plan after i start saving.
