I gave up on my car so I am driving my brother in laws '98 GT but its running like crap. We are pretty much going to swap out as many parts as we can before we junk it. There is a sensor, or more, bad and we are not sure which one it is. We are most likely going to swap MAF sensors anyway but Im not sure if thats it. When you hit the gas the idle goes up and down over and over unless you slam on it, so you really dont speed up unless you give it alot of gas. So we have a few thoughts, one which was the MAF and the other was the idle air control valve or the PCV valve. Any ideas? I know where the MAF is and how to change that obviously but if it is another sensor could you guys let me know how to change it or where to find directions to do it. I have no idea what or where any other sensors are. Thanks a lot!

try just unplugging the MAF first. You need security torx bits to get the MAF out.

You could take out the IAC and clean it.

PCV is always good to change once in a while.

Same with the fuel filter, try that, it could be clogged.

Are their any SES lights? When you step on it does it stumble at all or does it pull normally?

Clean the MAF before you replace it.

yeah the ses light is on, when you slam on it it goes fine its just when you are trying to drive normal. I have a new fuel filter we are going to change anyway so Im sure that will help. Where are the pcv and iac???

well what are the DTC's being thrown? what codes are they?

I have a suspicion that it is your IAC. The IAC is on your TB.

Not sure about the PCV on the l36.
