Talking about street credit. My friend has a 99-00 Mustang GT, HE has a few mods. Intake, superchip, exhaust and someother junk i cant remember. Either way, he has always ragged on my GTP. After many pleas he accepted my challange to race. We raced twice off the line. First time, he beat me. My front bumper was at his front wheel. Second time around, it was a different story. Off the line I had him by aleat two cars. The lead just kept getting bigger. About 75-80 mph, i took my foot off the pedal. I thought that the reason he was so far behind was that his radar was going off. A few seconds later he passes me. He decarled it a victory for him, but if i'd kept on going there would be no chance he would of caught up to me. Later, He said he was "impressed" by the GTP's. Since then he has not made any jokes about my car!!!

I think a big part of it is that the car has a kinda of big sedan family car image which in turn makes people second guess the car. But once they get spanked by one thier opinion differ greatly. I respect anything that is well built and doesn't look like trash. For instance my friend Sam has a 95 Buick Roadmaster Wagon full wood trim and all, except for the loud whistle from the blower no one would guess that it was a mid 12's car.

my take on the deal is that when I was younger and Detroit was building cars with V8 smogger engines, a car with 200hp was considered a rocket...the guys that still owned the older musclecars couldnt get gas with enough octane to make them really run (unless they went to the local airport)...and even later, I remember when the Taurus SHO first hit the lots with 200hp, all the magazines raved...now 200hp is commonplace, even considered pedestrian...but so many of these import tuner cars required turbos and NOS to make all the gawdawful power these kids see...so few of them truly have the goods...so when they tangle with an honest 200-300hp engine that actually has some torque, that doesnt make for much of a street encounter...my GP with its few simple mods is as fast as many cars I've owned in the years gone by, and NONE of those cars got 28-30mpg...to me the GP is one of the best combos of ride, room, comfort and performance that detroit has ever rolled out...its easy not to think of them as performance cars because they do so many things well, which is why I think there are so many sedans out there owned by everymen...but I bet they still love it when they step on the hammer

there was a guy here that sold used cars. he was on S.R. 551 near orlando that had muscle cars from the `70`s and he got them from saudi arabia , kuwait , and all over the mid east.

i dont know if they were clones or the real deal but he had cams and road runners etc etc and they all had middle eastern stickers that showed these cars ran in desert road rallys.

he had a buick road master fourdoor, triple black that he pick up in saudia arabia, about the same your talkin about. this monster had a narrowed axle, wide tires on all four corners, hugh sun tach with a custom steering wheel and a roll cge.

but what really impressed me was the tricked out dual turbo LT-1 350. and he said it was street legal.

I dont know, In a way Im glad they don't get alot of street cred. I know I could be thrown into the younger "import crowd" but thats one reason I went with the GP to get away from that. I much rather go with a v6 than a p.o.s 4 cy that has a body kit that is 4 diffrent colors, not to mention the suprise when they see ur tail lights.

LOOK this pisses me off. I've raced every honda at me job and has beaten ALL of them. Even this one guy with a dual exhaust and V6. I've even shut down a couple of mustangs with the exception of one. This guy HAS a mustang gt BUT he's got a suped up COBRA engine pushing 500hp. He's the only on I can't mess with. Those ratty mazda, this guy tryed to fix his up like fast and furious, the red one, he did some engine work, but couldn't hang.

All I'm trying to say is STEP UP AND BUST SOME HINGES OFF THE DOORS.

And keep in mind, I'm having problems with my ABS controll module and still shut'em down!!!! mad devileek mad

Way to go Texas! thumbsup
Our "wee lil" 3100 may not outdo the bulletproof 3800, but sure is fun to drive anyways! By the way - did you find a way to mount your CAI yet? If not I have an idea for you that worked for me pretty well.
