Its a 1997 with high miles =(. It has 138,000; although its all straight, no accidents, still drives well, transmission does NOT slip, nothing. Brakes are perfect w/ drilled slotted rotors, full leather interior, HUD, 2 door coupe, black, Borla exhaust, MSD wires and a new distributor. Good Tires- Yoko Avid 4S with a lot of tread left. Soon will be swapping to BFGoodrich Traction TA's though. Im overly excited, we paid for it today and are going to register it on thursday and I get to drive it home. =) wwwooooooooo. You guys dont understand how happy I am to have this car, Its really a sweet ride for the money.

so Herc what kind of distributor did you put on it? confused was it made by the same people that produce blinker fluid, drilled and slotted brake lines, and engine block oil bypass kit( to keep it from geting dirty) crazy

Ha.Ha.Ha. Jokes on me. Im sorry Im used to working on my uncles old chevelle SS, which DOES use a distributor. I dont exactly know the difference between coil packs and distributors, can someone begin to explain it? (Im quite technically savvy, so be as technical as you'd like)

The coil packs are electronically controlled by the PCM not a mechanical system like a normal distributor. The distributorless system(what we have)is much more efficiant then the old way. Cause each pair of cylinders share one coil instead of one coil for 6.

Another quick question- do you guys put 91 or 93 in your cars, I know I can get 91 around here in CT so I was wondering if there was a difference as far as knock goes, I dont really want to be spending almost 2.60/gallon on gas, but I guess if thats what it takes, then that is what I have to put.

Almost all modern cars now do not have a distributor.

When I was heavy into this back with my Buick, it was 6.00 a gallon. shocked

I had found a place that had leaded 104 octane gas. I had to use an adaptor to get it to fit into my car, but it ran like a champ. I just had to replace the oxygen sensor WAY often. smile

round here best you can get (other than racing fuel) is 91, so that's what I run for 11 months the other month, I put racing fuel at between 104-108 octane and throw a fuel system cleaner in the tank I also change the fuel filter b4 and after I am done with my "hell month". I thin k that it's has helped a lot on the prevention of buildup of crap in the fuel system. does anybody else do this or anything like this

For the GTP guys run the highest you can get period. I know around here 93 is about .10 more then 89 (no 91 here) which on a tank of gas is just over a doller more. Yes I know when you add the tanks up it gets pretty high but do your car a favor and give it what it requires. People have actually experienced worse fuel mileage bacause of the octane too low and that means buying more fuel more oten.

There is no badging anywhere. Not even the "GrandPrix" on the trunk.

Yeah, you might want to scrape the "borla" stickers off the back side windows, other than that it's a good looking car. wink

I wasnt planning on taking off the sticker, but after looking around at all the other gtp's, I think mine does look a bit bad with the borla sticker just sitting there. I was wondering if I should put on the Traction T/A's now, or wait until the winter. The Yokos I have on there right now are very decent, although they have a fairly low breaking point. I think the Traction T/A's will give me more lateral traction. Any opinions? Also; has anyone shaved their antenna off? I was thinking about doing that, either that or getting a shorty one like from an S2000. I dont like the huge metal rod.

Get the shorty!!!! Most of us on here have the antenna integrated into the rear window. devilgrin Do you have the prop rod as well for the hood? If so iirc you can instal the gas struts and get rid of the prop rod. Because all the mounting holes are already there.

hey guys, myabe we should ask for some pics of the eng, since it's been debadged, the only thing that we can tell by looking at it is that its a coupe and at least a GT..maybe he's just pulling a fast one on us and it's not really a GTP lol lol lol

Just kidding, congrats on the very nice looking car, and I agree with everybody else, ditch those borla stickers, they kinda look tacky
