Please tell me your not doing the cam swap by yourself... lol not trying to be an ass but if your trying to do a cam in your car and you don't know where thrust plate bolts go to you really shouldn't be cracking that motor open.

lol. I love how the thrust plate is like 2 lines long in the write-up, but took me almost an entire day to do.

Thrust plate is a round plate that holds the cam in the block. It has two bolts. I honestly can't remember if I replaced mine or not when I installed my cam. I'm thinking I didn't.

It's the bolts that are the problem. They strip out extremely easily because they are torqued down so tight and are a torx bit. The first one generally comes out easily, but the second one can be a PITA. (I had to dremel it out)

It's not something that I wanted to do at all, not around the cam/bearings. It all worked out in the end, but it was not a good time.

I hope you have some experienced help,I'm not trying to belittle you but there are many small details that can cause you problems later and have seen the results of overlooked things ,I hate to see you ruin a perfectly good engine ,but good luck and ask questions if in doubt I have done at least 6 rebuilds on the 3.8's and pulled at least 12 so any help you need just ask.And I have a set of stainless E-bay headers I could let you have at cost if you want $200 shipped.Chico(pops)
