I am considering replacing my factory head unit. I would like to get one that plays MP3 CD's, but cannot find any 1.5 DIN models around. (I don't like the look of the 1-to-1.5 DIN adapters.)

Any ideas?

Not sure if this helps but I installed a Alpine CDA-9827 mp3 player works and sounds great.

That looks like a single DIN unit. I'm really trying to find a 1.5 DIN sized one so that it fits better.

Still, how does it look to you? Can you take a pic and post it?

It took a little bit to get used to it, it does stick out further than I'd like. No I don't have a digital camera.

Stock BOSE setup, with an XM Roady.
Might be looking to update my speakers in the near future.

Austin, don't get my hopes up like that! :p That's a double-DIN deck. We need 1.5 DIN.

I believe Pioneer used to make a 1.5 DIN deck, but I think they quit making them.

There are only a few cars that have 1.5 DIN size and GPs just happen to be one of them.

You are probably going to be stuck with the adapter. I hated the look too, but if it sounds good, I'm ok with it.

Pioneer still makes 1.5 DIN decks, but they don't do MP3 CDs. I'll probably end up going with that. MP3 compatibility isn't as important to me as a good fit.

I wanted MP3 more than a good fit.

To each his own...

MP3 rocks! I did not want to get rid of my "stock look" in the dashboard but todays aftermarket radios are light years beter than the stock ones so I said WTF and bought a JVC and I am really happy I did.
