when I accelerate kinda heavily I hear a hissing type noise from the engine. Not sure what it is. I'm thinking it is a bad gasket on the manifold but not sure. Anyone else have an idea? I looked at my warranty and it doesnt cover gaskets.

Not sure how hard of a job to change it would be. I dont have many tools at my disposal.

its possible that its the gasket...mine was doing the same thing before i put my new transmission pan gasket on...

if your car is idling and you give it gas can you hear the hiss? That may help you find out where the noise is coming from.

I would suspect a vacuum leak before a gasket, although a bad gasket could cause a vac leak.

I've never heard it at idle, only when I'm in gear and moving.
