With my right rear speaker blown I need a replacement for it. I can get a replacement for $20 from Ed Morad but he also has a Bose system from a GTP for only $100 (minus the tweeters). This to me seems to be a good deal without going overboard on a sound system. What (if any) modifications would I have to do to my current system to accept the Bose. Is it just plug and play? I have the CD player with equalizer and 8 speaker system. Thanks for your help and input. (I feel like I've been a pain on this speaker subject.)

The Bose system has an additional amp that is mounted in the trunk. You'd need the amp too. You can't just plug the speakers in.

I think you need the Bose HU also. I don't think the CD player with the 8 band EQ will work with the Bose amp, but I could be wrong.

Hey i have a 2000 GT and i had the right rear speaker blow also, I just went to best buy and got some little 3 1/2" speakers for like 50 bucks. I took out the seats and I put the speakers in. Not a hard job at all. I think i have premium sound on mine though, i already have the amp in the trunk

Well the set I'm looking at includes that amp. What kind of wiring work am I looking at to get that amp hooked up? I'm not sure about the Bose HU. I think it will work but I'm just a beginner. Anyone else have any ideas?

That's what I'd do too. You can get better aftermarket ones than the Bose, and you wouldn't have to mess with rewiring that way.

Better sound, easier install, maybe a little more costly. I'd consider that an "upgrade".

I replaced all of my speakers with Infinity ones shortly after buying the car, so I still have all of my stock speakers, stock amp, stock deck etc, I would be willing to sell them.

I have the Bose system in my GT and it rocks like hell. I have to say its the best sound system I have ever had in the 3 previous cars I owned before my GT.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys but I decided to stay stock for now and got a replacement speaker from Ed for $20. I'm going to focus on my other mods first (CAI, maybe digital DIC). And for only $20 it won't hurt me at all when I put in an aftermarket system. Thanks again.

If you're interested - I can sell you my bose head unit from a 99 GT with the factory amp in the trunk. I did an amp bypass and put in an aftermarket HU. It doesn't have in-dash CD though - 6 disk changer in the trunk. Good luck with whatever. Let me know if you have questions about the gear or the bypass or whatever.
