I am your host...me.

I have a 1999 Grand Prix GT w/ 130k miles on it. Well kept with fuel Injection cleaning every so often.

I am going to get a dyno run this weekend. My sig shows all the updates I've done. Nothing more except I did add Purple Ice to the coolant.

So now let's play, GUESS THE DYNO RUN!!

Guess close to the HP and TQ numbers. I will supply any more info as needed.

Who want's to be proclaimed DA MAN?!?!?!!

Me too!
I'm going at 8:30am, if the weather holds out.

I'll say 185.

I'm hoping for 230.

Edit: Just rcv'd notice that the dyno day has been cancelled due to possible bad weather.

Stock L-36's ran between 195chp and 205chp ( bonneville's) and the only difference was the PCM and intake,so I would guess your whp at 172whp. stock is 160-165whp ,a couple of problems with guesstimating you did'nt say what type of dyno or elevation ,dyno's can be confusing for many as they tend to think that advertized hp increase for mods will be acurate, anyway good luck .Chico.

Well, here are the results.

Elevation was 1100 feet. It was a mobile dyno that was very similar to this one:
http://www.mobiledyno.com/

They aren't that good. Its kind of depressing.
155.9 HP/ 179.8/TQ.

HercMan: 180
framos242: 183
Drew521: 188
AustinGTP: 185
RooK: 192
drummerboy1307: 175
D: 181
pedal down: 195
zuulmusic: 178
Joshua Forman: 160-170
brown: 3
Chico: 160
ordonez1307: 168

Chico and Forman are the closest. Since Chico gave a specific figure, Chico will get the reward first. Therefore, Chico:

YOU DA MAN!!

So I am less than stock. According to my gauge, the KR was around 3.5-4 at the higher levels. I am running a lean on the lower end.

Just to think, all that $$$ (mods + using 93 octane all the time) and I am lower than stock.

Possible causes are the intense PCM and the exhaust. Even if I change the PCM to a digital horsepower one, it probably won't help much. That plus getting a d/p may get me back to stock.
wow. just wow.

Lower then stock, that sucks. Is everything ok with your car, engine wise? It just seems it should be alittle more then stock not less.

130k miles on it.

From what I'm told, GTs come with KR by design + high compression. As far as I know, everything with the engine is fine.

What kind of dyno was used ? and was the operator experienced? Dyno's can often be confusing and misleading and unless the operator uses the correct formula for temp. and elevation corrections your results will be off,Abs=RelHg-(elevation/1000) and a correction factor of CF=1.18x(29.22/Bdo)xTo+460/537)-0.18 where TO is ambiant air temp. in f and Bdo is dry ambiant absalute barometric pressure,Is that confusing enough for you.Chico.

Just checked. It was a Mobile DynoJet 248. It took into account the elevation, ambient temperature and barometric pressure. The shop seemed to be pretty experienced and they had several cars they were working on.

It was also ran in 2nd gear. They tried 3rd but it didn't go right. Could 2nd gear be the reason for low numbers?

Running in second gar should'nt be a problem but there is definately somthing wrong ,your tq qnd hp curves seem to be normal right up to peek which is 4400-4700 ,did you keep your stock pcm? and when you ordered your Intense PCM did you get the standard PCM with stock timing? as far as your Knock ratio a DP and possibly rockers would take care of this problem, this is why I suggest if you plan on dyno'ing your car get a stock baseline before you start modding .Chico.

Hey don't feel too bad, I got to searching and a member on here (Richard Candelario) dyno'ed his I believe stock GT, and the numbers he got were 150 whp/223 wtq. So your torque is way off, and the HP seems a little low, but pretty close to right.

CAI ~ 5-10chp, 3-6whp
HVTB ~ 10chp, 5whp
Ubend ~ 5chp, 2whp

So assuming stock dyno's at 150 whp, you theoretically should be at 163ish whp.

Perhaps the KR is what is hurting your whp readings.

Just a theory! smile

Yeppers, that is a stock GT. Sorta. All I did to the car so far is put a K&N air filter into the stock airbox. After my dyno I've put a Goodyear Gatorback on, mounted Goodyear ResponsEdge, installed slotted rotors and Hawk high-pro pads, and rplcd tie rods. I'd have to check my log book, but my car weighs 3500 lbs with my wife (150), my daughter (25), and myself (150). So, with a half tank, my car weighs roughly 3200 lbs. My elevation is 4300' ASL. All other compensations were taking into consideration. Any questions, please ask or refer to the post Drummerboy was talking about: Dyno Pull.

You are correct with the curve being bad after 4k RPM. The stock PCM was re-programmed on-site. The timing was adjusted. Unfortunately, I cannot recall by how much. I can find out certain timing per idle points?

Could a clogged exhaust be the culprit? Originally, I was thinking "no" just because it runs smooth from idle to WOT. Only very lite sputtering that my RPM needle can't feel but I can. My exhaust has been rattling like crazy on the highway and over bumps. Well, at least I think it is the exhaust.

Since I don't have a baseline, guess the choices are:
-Re-program PCM.
-rockers.
-exhaust.

Since I am the most underpowered GT here but with fast looking exterior stuff (hood, reflecting labels), mods that don't do anything, does that mean my car is rice? kooky

Not a chance you are rice. Because you don't have an unpainted body kit, you don't have a fart cannon, and you would still smoke any Honda.

The dyno shows both the old one from the guessing game with the old engine.

The higher numbers are with the GenV and mods as listed.

Stock is 260 hp/ 280 tq.

With 20% conversion, my car is 236.4 hp and 327.6 tq at the crank. With the mods I have, I'm glad its something higher. Hp loss is eh. I'm just happy with the tq numbers.

When I get the richness fixed, that my adjust the numbers. Maybe tq will lower and hp will increase. Dunno.
