2001 GP SE. When I bought my GP last January, driving all this time since, was great!. Tonight, it was warm enough here to drive with my drivers window open. While driving between 20-35 MPH,with my drivers window open, I hear this "rubbing" noise from the back drivers wheel. My tire shows no wear.,,I have goodyear eagle tires...could this be common. Is a 2001 GP SE a "wide track" car? and this be a common noise? or should I be looking at a bad wheel bearing? (41,000 miles) on the car.

Describe the noise a little more. Is it constant, is it pulsing? A tire might be out of balance. I'd rotate the tires around and see if the sound follows. If it does you'll know it's a tire problem if it stays then it might be chassis related. As for "Wide track" the 97-03 bodies were all "Wide track"

Hey Hercman

It's a pulsating noise.......like "wha...wha...wha...wha...from the drivers side rear tire while driving at 20-30mph. Tread on tire looks good. It does make me think the tire is out of balance. Or could this be a bearing? thanks. Dave

Well Dave, in my line of work, Ive found that overall, most Goodyear tires are noisier than some of the other makes we sell, such as BFGoodrich and Michelin. You may not be able to see it, but you could have a tire starting to become "out of round". The only real way to be able to see is would be to put the tires on a balancer and spin it..then you would know for sure..How many miles do your tires have on them and what kind of Goodyear tires are they?..Eagle LS, Allegra, Eagle GP-H?.. hammer

They are the goodyear Eagle LS. I'm assuming they are the original tires (41,000 miles) as I bought the car second hand. I'll just have to take the car in and have that rear wheel put on a balancer I guess. At cruising speeds (55-65MPH) you don't notice it. Just on acceleration and between 20-35 mph do you hear the pulsating sound. It has no effect on handling or driving the car, just was wondering if anyone else had experienced anything like this, thanks

yeah..my bet is on the tire..with 41k miles on them, youre probably due for a set pretty soon anyway but it sounds as if you have one going out of round..
