Hello all .. again

So the last few nights i've hit the streets with a few friends and done some races for kicks between lights and exits on the highway here. So say the least, i'm slightly disappointed!! To compare my car to a new 300 w/ Hemi is not fair thats for sure, but i feel like i have a lack of POWER at my disposal. Clearly, i should've gotten a GTP for starters lmao, but thats not do-able at the present time, so i've turned my attention to this board where i'd like to ask a few questions!

First off , i did a rough scan on the forums and didn't generate much but, what are some first steps i can take to generate either more HP or other beneficial mods? Please take the cost into consideration when answering though ! I am a student and i currently am working part time but .. Anything that i could budget at 600 / Month .. so saving could be done to upgrade. Thanks!

do a top end swap or sell it and find a nice gtp

1) I bought it at a dealership and am currently financing it
2) I dont have cash to just throw out at it and get a whole new car lol..

SO again i'll ask for some mods that can be done / saved for over time that will give me an end result with more HP and benefits my engine.

Intake of some sort and a 3" downpipe to start. From there you can decide if you're satisfied with staying NA or if you want to top swap and go supercharged.

Is there a approx price you can toss at me for a topswap ?

I'm planning on ordering an intake off eBay within the next few days.

In other words, is there really not much i can do with my non-supercharged engine? =(

depends on where you can find a used Gen3 M90, but i suggest a GenV, but those are 800 bucks from ZZP and hard as hell to find other places.

The best member to talk to is 72Chevman. he has an '03 GT and has the most mods without a top swap.

Yes but you're going to need way more than that for a top swap. Check out the FAQ for details on what you'll need as well as links to threads of people that have done it.

Also do not, under any circumstance, buy an intake off eBay. You can build yourself a better one with a filter from AutoZone and piping from Home Depot, instructions for that I believe are also in the FAQ.

Putting mods on an N/A car is no comparison to a S/C car. I did all the bolts on to by GT and ended up with a high 14 second car. I threw a blower on it and ran a full second faster.

then i would do either a p-log or headers.and whats nice about all this stuff is it can all be used if you do a top swap.
not sure about this-HV3 High velocity intake insert but zzp claims 9peak hp and 30 peak hp at 6k rpm.

^ if you get the HV3 and then top swap, you say goodbye to the HV3 since it won;t work with the S/C.

ever since my first GT I always wondered about those inserts.

Unfortunately "cheap mods" and GTs don't mix for enough power to beat on 300Ms W/hemis.

Only thing that would give you a chance for relative cheap is a NOS system.

By the way leave the racing for the track.

Check Clubgp for top swaps. Every once in a while there will be someone who throws up a complete top swap kit. Ive seen them go for 300-400 bucks.
