I use Mobil 1 because I get it for free.
I do happen to think that Mobil has superior products too. But in reality, as long as you buy a high quality oil, then there probably won't be a difference. It's all preference.

I change it every 3000 miles anyway, so I guess it wouldn't really matter...

Yea you are not kinding. I wish I got anything free. But if you go to Walmart they will do a mobil 1 change and premium fliter for just under $32. I have never found a place that will do it that cheap. I am a huge advacate for doing your own work, but in this case it is worth a few bucks not to have too.

Oh and to answer your question. I have a friend who had an '85 Monte Carlo SS. He drove it like he stole it all day, every day. He sold it last year and it became a race car (same engine) when he sold it the car had over 350K, Now he has a 93 STS with over 260K both cars run like a champ, and neither to this day burn oil. My friend's father (Corvette restorer in Mass.) himself and I all use Mobile 1, My GTP has 154K
That's just some food for thought....

I try not to support evil if I can help it, therefore I don't shop at Walmart.

I'm using Mobil 1 rignt now. I heard Amsoil was better from a lot of people but I hear conflicting info as well here. I dunno though. Like I said before. I change the oil/filter every 3000 miles anyway so it's probably a non-issue.

Its a toss up. I don't get Amsoil only because when I did research on Amsoil years ago, I found a thousands and thousands and thousands of oil testing web sites that were Amsoil biased because they sponsored them.
With that headway in cost, I just stuck to Mobil 1 and moved on.
I also used the Mobil 1 filters too. Honest research showed they were of VERY good quality. Frams and especially Service Champs (Lube Stop filters) were sad.

I use a Delco PF47 right now for the filter. Their pretty good. I want to try a Mobil 1 but I don't know where to get them [locally]. And yes; Service Champ filters are pure crap. I had a LARGE reduction in valvetrain noise when I started using a Delco.

Delco had a "Gold" version filter that was supposed to be the best for our cars. I can't find them anymore. and I am not even sure they still make them. I hate Walmart as well but for $32 bucks I do buisness with the devil.

My Dad owns a Mobil station. It's a good deal. If I could only get him to carry filters, I'd be all set.

I haven't seen many GP's that don't leak oil. And since it's a $500 job, I haven't seen many people rush to fix it.
