I was just wondering if it is even remotely possible to but a 5 spd tranny(manual) into our cars...i think that'd be so sweet...cause i love my car but i love to shift gears while driving...auto's get kinda boring...does anybody have any clue on if it's possible?!? just curious!

Possible? Yes. Practical? No.

There exist kits for those that have way too much money for their own good to convert from auto to standard tranny, and vice versa. if you do go ahead with the project, how about sending me some cash first? All I want is 10 grand. That's all. lol

not worth the $. you wont net any gains from it. Unless you switch the entire thing over to the RWD setup

the problem with that is that the driveshaft would go straight down the center. Which is precisely where our exhaust pipe is running. Too many mods to name for that be successful.

Or he could just buy a older Gp........cause I remember an ex girl of mine owing one, and it was pretty sweet for what it was........just thought. I'm sure you rather stay with the car you have now....best of luck!

P.s. You can send me some of that overflow of cash!

I think I've posted this link at least 10 times.

It's possible, but it's very costly.

Posted earlier in this this thread:

"Manual Trans Flywheel 428.00
Having mounts made 350.00
Special axles 425.00 per side
A Getrag M27 trans (not the greatest but somewhat strong) 450.00
Spacer shim which he modified 35.00
Starter which he had to grind out the nose cone
50.00"

Don't forget to add in the shift linkage, the clutch

And the know how.

A auto-manual swap on a fwd car that was never meant to be a manual takes some very good mechanical skills. It's not nearly as simple as doing the swap an a rwd.

This doesn't even include the programming that needs to be modified to remove the auto tranny from the PCM and make it just run the engine.

When it comes to car mods just about anything is possible with enough money and skill. Unfortunately those are two commodities that are constantly in short supply.
