Alright. Boy, it was long day. I have no idea that Northern Ohio got nasty winter up there. I live near Cincinnati. We don't have any snow. My poor car went to hell in the winter storm. At least there are no plow truck with salt around. I will have to give her a good bath tomorrow. laugh

I went to Morad's place to pick that leather seat. They are asking for $400 but I offer them for $300 buck. They accept my offer. I went ahead to pick it up than shipping.

Sorry not best picture since it is dark outside.

My old seat

04+ driver seat on my pass. side

pass. seat (fold) in my trunk

backseat

I'm looking forward install them. I think I will do that in spring for warm weather better than freezing in death.

I have leather seats in my car, is there any benefit to the 04+ ? do they feel a little more like racing seats than the 97-03?

I just got home from work. I didn't get chance to get it out. I will do that tomorrow if you want old vs. new together. All I know this 04+ seat is very damn soft than mine.

Yes, I think they look like racing.

yes the 04+ seats are much more "stiff" they seem like they grab you a little more, hold you in place, dont get me wrong i love them, much more comfert than the old seats i had but i kinda miss sinking down into the seat, kinda makes me feel like the car was more apart of me, when yousink into the seats lol i had some friends tell me they dont wanna take my new car on trips because of the seats, they are leather, and they arnt good to "snuggle" up in

I don't know about you but if I had a new car nobody would be "snuggling" up in it if you know what I mean.

Seats look good though palsut and great price too. Hurry up and get those installed so we can see some finished pics! Who cares if it's cold outside you can't wait until spring and you know it!

Yes, I hate leather but now I guess I'm change my way now lol

This is actually look great on my car. It is huge improving over my cloth. Now, I need find leather door panels. Moard will keep eye on it since they have lot of cars coming next week. Better keep eye on ebay. It might good stuffs who know. wink

This seat is removed from 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix Comp. I believe it is rare car? Because I see black 04+ don't have "hole" headset.

I don't know if you knew Eirk at Morad's place. He ask me "how fast" about my car. I laughed and told him it is SE model. I'm doing apperance look. He says that's very cool car but at least he doesn't say about "get 3800 engine" like everyone always say that. laugh

See you said you didn't like leather, now you own leather. You say you don't like the 3800 engine, but I guarantee if you had the 3800 engine, you wouldn't go back to SE. So get the 3800 engine!!! cheers

lol who know if I'm going to get 3800 engine. We will see in future about that.

I have 2 local sellers who is selling leather door panels. Hopefully, it is good. One of them won't email me back. I was supposed to get 1998 leather seat with leather door panels from him this Sunday. I took Hercman's advice to "wait it out". I finally found this good set of leather seat from Morad after I offer them lower price. I think he is mad about that when I told him I'm going to drop leather seat but I'm interesting door panels. Everyone change mind I guess.

Thank everyone. I'm looking forward install them. Front/Rear seats should be easy install but wire thing that I will have to find someone in local area who willing help me if I'm lost.

It is very soft to sit on but something missing? Where is my steer wheel? lol

cloth vs. leather

leather

I love that one. It should be helpful to load oversize items.

palsut that is the worst place to go for a car wash! lol If you are going to do an automatic car wash, go to a touchless car wash.

But other than that, lol it looks nice! I may have to do that one of these days...lol

Yes, I know. I don't like it too but I just want clean underbody. It is once time thing. It is much better to see all underbody clean. I always use hand wash all the time.

For whoever interesting this 04+ seat project. Let me know if you want any more picture of them then I'm glad to help as much I can for you.

They gave me wire pigtail. All I know driver seat have power and heat. Also, pass should have heat too. Since your car is Comp G. Did pass. seat have heat? Because I noticed wire stuff under it.

Yeah shame on me but I don't know where is touchless wash since I always use "my own way" hand wash all the time. After the wash, I dry it all and everything is normal. No damage or whatever wink

See the "circle" behind pass. seat? That's button for fold it down. No bolts or anything removed. Like 4drGT says it is normal. We both have same seat wink

DAMN! What I got me into mess! I have driver heat seat and power seat to worry about that. Now I have other heat pass seat. Double trouble! lol

Wait.. I'm confused about zzp link. Is it all for wire thing and switch only? No heat pad right? It might helpful since my car is SE. I don't think I have any heat seat wire on it.

*edit* lol wtf? why world you have keep old man picture? If it is on this box then I can punch him lol

lol good one 4drgt

Wow, the weather is all sudden warm. It is 50 in Batavia, Ohio. Since I have too many darn parts all over in my apt. I'm going install leather seat on my car to keep my apt more space. Keep that in mind. Some of them still need work on like wires, seat belt, heat and back seat. It will be next year when the weather will be warm.

1st: I removed metal bracket that support old backseat and driver seat

2nd: I installed leather back seat. (easy as hell!) It is 5 bolts on.

3rd: I installed pass seat

cloth vs. leather driver seats

install driver seat since I don't have power seat hook up. My leg hit dash board. Damn this person might be small or Moard company move it all way either.

Wire for heat and power seat. Also, they gave me free 4 metal that hold back upper back seat where rear speaker is. I don't think I need install them since 5 bolts is strong enough. It is tiny loose. If it is hearing person then I'm sure you will install them because some of them hate to hear "rattle". I'm deaf so no big deal lol

so the whole back seat flips down too? Dang, I might have to pick up a set now, lol.

I really like how the front seats look.

I have OEM leather seats now, so I should be able to sell them for a decent price to offset the purchase of the new seats.

nice work palsut!

There you go for back seat flip down

The plan

Yellow lines for cut if I want oversize item load

Red circles that was used be from old seat

Purple line that I say I don't need 4 screw on it. That's how I got "loose" from this arrow line. The rest is strong. No big deal for me.

it is palSut. I'm not palnut! lol

White holes is for seat belt for children. My cloth seat have one. I'm sure you should have one too.

Hmmm once you cut that area out I wonder if you'll be able to carry a kayak inside the car like Pontiac showed when the 04+ was introduced?

If you were to throw these in a 97-03 car with power and heat, would the 04+ hook directly up to those or would you need some modifying.

Not sure. Even if the connectors weren't the same I'd guess it would be a simple splice job since the circuitry for the seats is on the switch panel. Just a matter of connecting the power supply.

Nice, I think I'm going to do this upgrade in the spring time since I will be getting a pay increase in feb of 09.

But one thing Im worry about is do you have legroom in the front because the seats looks like it takes up alot of leg room.

f**k that I can't drive like that. My leg was trapped on bottom dash board. It was hurt so bad when I move it. I can't imagine how can I do that during driving. I was thinking switch pass seat on my driver seat so I can drive it for while but not sure. Maybe unbolt the driver seat and move it back little bit for short drive to find some local wire guy. I already asked Ohio grand prix members if whoever willing help me. Maybe I can watch him and learn how to do that.

Not sure about Bonnieville GXP seat.

Jon Szarka: Wow, that's really nice seat wink Did you got power seat hook up? I noticed you don't have heater switch on shift area. You didn't use it? I'm not sure which car did you got. Mine was removed from 2004 Comp G. I have 2 heater seats.

lol i didn't hook up the heated seats because thats the only option my GT didnt come with(the drivers heated seat)....I am looking into the harness and switch from another car but i havn't been lucky yet.... I tried to read up on if an 04 harness would work and somehow i could rig an 97-03 to it so both work but i dont think its going to happen.....

As for the power for the seats.....I did hook that up... I hate cutting wires and all that so I used my head and figured a little something out. I took apart the harness and pulled each wire out of the plastic housing and simply slid them into the new harness on the seat. The colors are pretty much the same. It took me awhile but everything worked, even the little seatbelt light on the dash is hooked up correctly. You really dont have to worry about the wires falling out either, they are snug but just for safe measure I used electrical tape and secured them down. Just make sure you take a picture of how the wires were placed in teh old harness because if you ever switch back.

Sorry 20gt02. Don't be jealous. wink I was about ask you about seat from ebay in Florida but I realize that your car (engine start button) is tan. $229.88 and pick up only. Not bad deal.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-Pont...sspagenameZWDVW

Ok thank Jon Szarka. I'm not sure if I'm going to hook heat seat. I went to check my SE model power wire under my driver seat. I have 6 color wires. I do have pink and blue wire that are actaully from heat seat. Wow... but how can I connect them from switch button?

Just saw your edit post. So your seat belt (warning light) actually connect into leather seat without cut wire? I was about ask same question about what to do with seat belt wire.

I will try my best as much I can for wire. I need to find picture for "how to make wire together write up pictures". I have no luck to find them. Pictures do help me lot.

What is wrong with armorall? At least I didn't open it yet. I saw this product. I wonder why they have 2 bottles?

I would recommend lexol products on leather. I also use vinylex from lexol on the plastic interior pieces. I don't use any other products but these.

Armoral leaves that slippery greasey look, and doesn't really give life to the material, just makes it look like it has life.

I hope you have a good Thanksgiving. I do have a good time with my dad. His food is so good.

Anyway, I ask him for stripper wire if he has one but he couldn't find it. The Meijer store is open. We went over there and saw some wire area. He brought it for me. Thank to him. I owe him big one. Since it is very pretty outside with sunny. I knew it is final warm day this year. I will get some snow on Monday. I decide to work on it because I need drive this car sometimes. It has been sitting there since Saturday.

For whoever want to do 04+ seat on your 97-03 model.

There is my write-up. Maybe this one will help better.

You need those. (black tape, wire stripper & crimper, 04 connect wire, and butt connectors)

Unhook the battery cable

That's what wire look like after cut.

stripper job

now wire cover is out

Keep repeat for other wires

Cut old seat plug out (not picture)

stripper job on my car wire (not picture) but it is clearly same thing as above when I did that on 04+ plug wire.

Put butt connector between 2004 wire and my car wire together. Use black tape to hold it then I use crimper on this butt connector.

It is getting too dark. The sunny is drop down too fast because I take it easy to make sure I did everything smoothly for my 1st try. I skip heat seat wire job. I will do that later. I put the battery cable on. When I make video but I haven't try it yet. When I click the button and it is show dead. I just like aww I suck at it. Wait... I FORGOT PUT DAMN CONNECT PLUG ON MY LEATHER SEAT! I put connect plug on my leather seat and make other video.

Holy sh!t... Did I do that? eek It is alive! Yeah!!!! lol I got too exciting for can't wait to drive my car when I shake the steering wheel.

Finally, it is all way back now. Yeah less space room but I don't have any people sit on my back seat.

Thank you for all your best advice as much you can. I know it is getting confused for me lot. Now, I'm happy and understand clearly as long it is working right now.

nobody wants to listen to me... lol. HEAT SHRINK CONNECTORS!!!

you can buy them at hardware stores. its just like those butt connectors palsut. except after you crimp both sides, you heat the plastic with a lighter and it shrinks to fit your wire, it also has glue in it so the wires are very secure.

but glad you got it working.

Oh really? I already crimp both side of butt connectors. Sound like dangerous. If I put lighter under leather seat and oh sh!t my car is on fire by accident lol

This wire tool is very cheap. It cost me 7 buck but channellock tool cost $15.99 eek

Thank 01 GT. I'm going to take it spin tomorrow at work. I'm glad I don't have to deal with shopping for Black Friday. I'm broke. I paid for this leather seat project. I think it is worth it laugh

I have been driving this car for 2 days in row after I got my leather seat power back last Thursday night.

I'm pretty happy with this leather seat. It is pretty good to sit on.

Happy person (yeah I need shave lol) wink

I'm 5 feet tall and 9 inches. For whoever is 6 feet tall or more. I don't think it will work for you. My driver seat is all way down. I have few inches left between my head and roof. When I sit it. I feel like I'm few inches tall. I have to change my rear mirror and both mirrors up little bit lol

If you are one of "cool" dude. Sorry, it is not working out for you because head set block your "cool" way hat lol

Backseat view

It is not bother me that back seat is few inches up. Why? Because I have SD wing block that same way as back seat do. No big deal for me. I used that since summer.

I would rate this A+++++++

Of course I still haven't got heat seat solve yet but it doesn't matter with me if I can't get it work out. I sit cold seat during night. Not really bad. It will take time to make my butt warm lol. Be sure tuck your shirt into your pant. Once, my shirt was little bit up and I sat it. I just holy sh!t and jump out of seat. Damn... that's cold! lol

I'm sure it can be done. Have you looked at all the space underneath our seats. There are a few inches that can be taken out.

ordonez1307: Are you sure? I just look page 3. When I took all the seats out. The few inches lift are from metal. I think it is stuck with metal frame on this car? I'm planning buy new carpet next year. Maybe I will find out if it can remove or not.

When I put power seat "lean" like this 6 ft guy do. Maybe it could work out but I can't tell it will work or not. Wanna me measure that? lol My car is now on car cover. I will have some snow storm tomorrow and Monday.

From my wife: "I dont see any difference? Why do that?" I then explained the conversion from SE to GT/P, with heat and power. She then understood.

I really like the way the back seat looks. That might be on Colleen's agenda for later on, as well. Congrats, and glad to see that it worked out well for you.

palsut, you do not need to measure it.

thanks for the offer though.

I have no problem making a custom bracket when I get to this project.

I just ordered new front struts, so my cash flow has been reduced!

Thanks Richard. I'm pretty glad it is work out for me. lol I guess your wife is spying on you? wink

jaybur: ok no problem. Hopefully, it will work out for you. I think it will look sweet on your car like mine. What kind color leather you have? I can't tell from your sig. It look like you have tan but yellow tree shadow make it impossible to see that lol

Nah, the top-swap aint happening for a good long while. I'm actually kinda pleased with the gains I've netted so far. The butt-dyno says I netted 125,000 WHP. That's good enough for me. Realistically, I prolly gained 2-5 WHP with the WizAired CAI. That's ok. I have dogbone rplcmt, A/C compressor rplcmt, LF window issue, LIM gasket (HV3 TIME!!!), and EXH work coming up next. The HV3 and EXH should give me another 20 WHP and 2-5 MPG gain.

Palsut, nope. I tell her a vast majority of teh stuff I do here on the internet. It gives her a good laugh. At my expense, granted, but a laugh nonetheless.

Richard: I understand. My ex gf used spy on me for what I'm doing. I told her surf car website like gp message board or whatever I do. Once she told me that you love your car more than me. Did your wife told you same thing? lol

Not bad color for charcoal.

lol true.

First I did but they told me I was on wrong email. So they gave me other right email but I haven't start it yet. I'm not going buy it right away. I do have some bill to pay on 1st of month.

This is weird about my SE model.

When the wire color like blue, pink and other color that support heat wire. I do have one on my driver seat. I haven't hook it yet. Too cold outside. Also, I went to look glove box where fuse panel is. I looked the list. I found "heat seat". I looked at fuse. I do have it on this. It is weird. My car is cloth seat and still have wire and fuse for heat seat? I remove shift area. I don't see any extra heat wire around.

If it doesn't work out then no big deal. Someone got a neat idea about towel cover on this seat.

Nope, that accusation has never once came up. I would ditch this board and never return if such an accusation did surface. Besides, she really likes that I take the maintenance and upgrades so seriously on this car. This is the car that she and the kids ride around in, after all. Now the Firebird, on the other hand...yeah, about that POS...
