I apologize for the quality, I shot these with my Digital Camera (Not Video Camera) But they are not too bad considering. Just shot them quickly, but will get better ones later.

Flowmasters Delta 50 Series.

Thought long and hard about it, But I just didn't want it being too loud. It's more of a daily driver with a little kick, so I didn't think it would be appropriate in my case.

I'm very happy with the 50's i have to say though.

Someone needs to be the wimp around this forum haha crazy

0 drone. when im running steady in OD i can't even hear the mufflers. Very quiet inside once you get to cruising speeds.

I find my mileage is a little shot at the moment, cause i keep giving little shots of gas all the time to hear her purr..hahahaha...

I have a 50 series SUV Cat-back on my Expedition and I'm very happy with mine. I really like the way yours sounds when you get on it. Did you just replace the mufflers or are there other exhaust mods as well? Do tell.

I'm planning on buying a 3" Tim King DP (no cat). I wonder how much louder that would be with the flows? I don't want it too loud, just a better "sound" than stock. Man our cars sound like ass!

I really like the way that sounds, and I want to do something along those lines with mine cuz I love the flowmaster on my Suburban, but I'm really afraid of sounding too ricey. How does yours sound when you rev it up? Is there anyway I could hear that? Im really curious.

Hello,

Great job on sharing the videos.
As Steven asked...It would be nice to hear what it sounds like on the outside revving up.
If it were me.....I'd position the camera close to the ground behind the car. I'd have one video of the car revving a couple of times in Park. And another of the car driving away from the camera, under hard accelleration.
Just a couple of ideas......
Again, props to sharing the videos!!

Later now,
Clint

Guys, I'll hunt down some equipment this weekend and will replace the bytes with some high quality ones. I'll get the sounds that were asked for for sure.

Cheers!

V nice dual/dual tips btw. Are those the Borla tips or diff kind? I couldnt tell cuz they were kinda dirty. Post more footage! Ill have some of mine up shortly probly monday.

The tips I believe are MagnaFlow. Thats what we were looking at anyway when deciding what type to put on. They are actually clean but for some reason they look dirty in the vid.

Got a camera booked for Sunday, So i'll shoot some fun stuff smile

Cheers!

The 50's sound really good! What do they call the color of your GTP? I like that blue.

How much would headers effect the sound of the 50 series?

I believe his color is the same as mine medium gulf blue. The color changes tone with different lighting.

Actually the color is called "Dark Tropic Teal". It's not very popular, as I have not seen any other GPs of the same, however it looks pretty good when clean wink - It's more accurate in my Sig then on that video.

Updated 2 more videos. 1 is driving down the road, 2 is revving behind the pipes.

There's an annoying "tick" in the video. MiniDV tapes don't like to be tapped over and over.

Hello,

Thanks for the work with the videos.
Funny, looking at your dash..The numbers on the Temp Gauge are smaller, and the numbers on the Speedo are larger.... wink
Man...I need a DV Camera.

Those 50s sound louder inside the car then my 40s do. It must be the tips. Im using the stock tips extended a tad beyond the bumper. I drove my car for a day without the tips and it sounded cool for about five minutes then it was just annoying smile The sound was reverberating off of the bumper cover and being redirected into the cabin. So those of you who are experiencing drone might want to look at tip placement. You might have to extend them out a little farther and you might just be surprised.

Clint,

Do you have a digital camera? My digital camera allows me to take videos (it eats up the memory card, but it works for short video clips like this)

Actually, unless im accelerating, i don't really even here them, the video does makes them sound louder, now that I watch them again looking for it. Odd! The tips extend about 1/2 inch farther then the stock.

I don't here the 40s unless I'm under accelleration or under a load from about 1500 rpm and up.

If your experiencing too much drone take a look at where your tips line up with the bumper cover if they are recessed a little try getting the tips extended just beyond the plastic.

Alex I like the way your look I wouldn't touch em. But if you do try and push em in a bit more take a look at what the sound might reflect off of. If they are easily adjustable try various positions untill you find a spot that works best for you.

If i have the muffs changed will this soft the air intake sound?
I've heard some Ford Contour SVT and even a VR6 Golf and it sounds grat to me, but never heard a GT.

Alex cheers

The K&N SUCKS air, its loud, when I have the full FWI on it sounds alot like when someone tries to whistle really hard and cant make the whistling noise, like WHSSSST or something similar if your trying to make the noise while you read this hehe. I can still hear it at low rpm with the rumble but it is definately drowned out when I step on it. Im searching for a 20ft USB extension for my comp cam so I can get some garage vids but our cam corder broke before we got any footage of the car show I was going to tape *Cry*

The exhaust or the intake? The intake only makes a suction sound when you first slam the gas, from about the 2 line to the 3 line on the rpm gauge, then the exhaust/engine drown it out after that, or when you start the car from cold when its warming up it gets quite loud from the intake area, can hear it inside the house upstairs with all the doors closed when its in the garage, ive had people mistake it for a turbo a couple times before who didnt know what was what.

As far as the mufflers it depends, on light throttle I hear a steady rumbling noise, if I floor it it sounds amazing at high RPM its almost addictive, and when it shifts it makes a short popping sound like a corvette, the difference between the stock sound and the sound now is like a cat to a lion, while still remaining under the decibel limit.

Overall if your gonna mod your GP at all I would consider these two mods pretty much mandatory, best money ive ever spent on performance upgrades dollar for dollar.

Where are you guys getting your Flowmaster 50 and 40's, because when I look at http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/cgi-bin/flowmaster/gmh.html?id=qpKqxEHq for '01 Pontiacs they don't have the GTP (or GP for that matter listed). My GTP that I bought a couple months ago has Borla mufflers on it, which I thought sounded awesome when I first bought the car. Now, its loud all the time, I mean all the time...noise at cruise speed is not cool. I'm looking for flow without the drone.

I grabbed mine on Ebay from peformancepeddler.com. They were a buy now for 35 a piece. I grabbed the 2 1/2 or was it 2 1/4 offset in center outs. You'll need a reducer to mate up to the stock exhaust. But since your going from the smaller pipe to a bigger inlet on the muffs there is no restriction.

looks like the price has gone up since I bought mine back in june.
These guys were great parts were shipped next day and I recieved my muffs three days later.

withstupid Performance Peddler I really gotta back on this one, its a great company. Shipped almost immediately arrived a few days earlier than the shipping I paid for, great price my SLP tips were actually almost more than the muffs. Be sure to get the U-bend deleted while you get it welded for those of you who get'em and take'em in to get installed.

Robin if you dont want loud sound go with the 50 series delta flow, CanadianGTP got them and said theyre nice and quiet and sound great. I prefer the deeper rumble which was super 40 series and herc got the louder of the bunch which is the regular 40 series, careful with these if you plan to get alot of extra ponies later on I heard them on a thunderbird with straight pipes and it nearly popped my eardrum, plus the guy got a fix it ticket and sound decibel tickets right after he set off all the car alarms in the parking lot from the revving.

Part number for the 50's i got are 942451 (Still confused about the free upgrade i got, but i'll crawl around under the car in the spring).

Still can't say enough good things about them, half the time i drive now with my stereo off just so I can hear em', I even can now work the gas to get different notes going to try to get a combination of cool bass tunes going :p - As for the dual tips, now other GP'ers know i've done some mods, so it's sparked some conversations with guys around town.

Love em, Hands down best mod yet!!! And yup, when i hit crusing speed, they are the same as the stock exhaust. I only hear them when playing around a bit or a lot smile

It's a good thing they gave you a nod. One of my friend's friend had a '78 Trans Am (Mint). They were driving down Lake Shore Drive they were pulled over. They were wondering what gives. Would you believe the cops just wanted to see the car up front??? Plus, they couldn't believe the car was mint!!!

blacknred. How's it going, good to see you on the Boards, you'll love it here. The total install with Muff's and Pipes was around $500.00 Canadian. The boys at Thrifty on 156st Did an awesome job. Make sure you get the UBend Delete first or at the same time though, it makes a diff.

Not sure about the 40's but i would suspect same price.

Parts in Canada..HAAAAA. Maybe you'll have some luck with some used parts, but I order mine all from the states. YOu'll get killed on the Broker fees if you courier so try to avoid that and use Postal and Patience if you can dude!

Welcome aboard. I think that's 3 Edmontonians now. Cool.!!!

Before I forget to ask again, do the tips you have on your car in the video have resonators?

I've got 40 series flowmasters with resonated tips. I'll see if I can get a sound bite posted later on.

That'd be great! I'd like to compare the two, hopefully before I decide anything. I'm kinda walking the wire now, trying to get alot of things done before TMS. Hopefully I can scrape it all together and make my first GP meet a good one. laugh

I'll see what I can do about getting mine posted sometime this weekend, maybe tonight.

I'm going to do as much as I can. Like I said somewhere else, with over 100k miles and a few mishaps with it, I think I'll steer away from modding the GT very much. This is all training for my future GTP! I'm all cosmetic for now. lol

Speaking of, I have a few things I wanna ask about, but won't hijack this thread anymore than I already have. :x

I'm convinced. The 50's are going to be my next mufflers. The stock ones are 90% fine so I got a LONG way to go.

My 40 series with 2 1/2" dual outlets, resonated.
The "whistling/rattle" is the JimmyC D/P. It uses a piece of flex joint. It's the flex joint that is making the noise, and it is normal. JimmyC has said that he's now using a gen 2 flex joint. I'm not sure if the gen 2 is quiter or what it's all about.
This will soon be my old set-up, as I have already ordered a new set of 4" single outlet with resonators. I'm hoping to get a little deeper sound out of the 4" singles.

I have been checking into the tips that are offered and there are quite a few to choose from. Do you happen to remember what the part number was for the ones your running?
