Hey guys,

Anyone done any direct comparisons between using an AMSOIL cone filter (foam) vs. a K&N cone (oil-wetted)?

I don't remember where, but I have seen a comparison recently. Even though the difference won't be noticeable, I remember that the K/N flowed slightly better in the test I saw, although it wasn't by much. You can also check out the new Fram Air Hog filters; they're basically just re-boxed K/N's, only they're Fram-Orange in color. Might even be cheaper and easier to get, too.

I was just asking because my dad got himself involved as an AMSOIL dealer. He did that because I've been using the products for over a year now and we may as well get the dealer cost on it.

Some tests I saw showed that the K&N let him more dust/dirt particles as well than the AMSOIL and I was just wondering if anyone noticed that.

Personally, I think my K&N 9" cone works well, just did the FWI this past weekend.

Both companies are good and like others said teh difference isnt messurable. How do you like the amsoil? I am running it in my car. We have ran it in heavy equipment and diesel trucks but this is the first time in a daily driver car. Got 1500 mile on the first change, not sure how long i will run it what do you do with yours?

I currently sell AMSOIL products at my business, and from going by numerous tests and data, feel they're the best line of lubricants out there right now, if you wanna spend the $$ for it that is.

As far as how far you can go on a single oil change, it more depends on which product you're using.

I've heard the same. I've talked to some of the reps who have some technical knowledge and I know one of them has ran the AMSOIL oil filter for 20,000 km (12,500 miles), there's a secondary by-pass filter that filters oil to even smaller microns which he changed at 40,000 km (25,000 miles!) and he changed his AMSOIL 10W30 at 85,000 km (53,125 miles!!!)! And it was STILL GOOD!!

Another rep usually runs the oil and filter for 20,000 km and he does a LOT of highway mileage. He does runs all over Western and Northern Canada.

It just depends what type of driving you do. Since I just put on the pulley and FWI I was playing with the idea of trying the AMSOIL racing oil because I'd like to make more runs out to the track.

I'm running AMSOIL ATF as well, it says it 3 times as long as regular ATF.

Well the thing i read on the racing oil is that you have to make sure it meets the GM specs of your car my car required 6094M and the ATL product code is what i use, amsoil says in a passenger car run 12500 or 6 mos. drop the filter topp it off then at 25000 or 1 yr change oil and filter, they gauruntee it to be safe, i am still not sure if i will go that long but i may......i do a lotta easy driving high and city but save the hammering for the weekend........PS im am speaking in Miles above not KM
