I would think warranty would be an issue. If you buy a used model without warranty, you could get into trouble when parts fail, since supercharged engine parts take more of a beating due to the extra torque. Any GTP owners want to comment on their luck with repairs?

My 97 GTP was doing pretty good (89K miles) until I ordered the 04. Now, in rebellion, it's gone to pot. Last week I had to replace the steering rack for $1200 (although I'm working with the dealer for a discount since I'm trading it in). I'm also having some trouble with the suspension (Marc posted that it might be a rear strut) and just for good measure I got a crack in the windshield from who knows what hammer about 2 weeks ago. If you had asked me last month I would have said the GTPs are good mechanical-wise, but after this round (except the windshield, I know that's just circumstance), I'm not so sure. One thing, I'm definitely going for the extended warranty on the 04  .

I have 165K miles on my GTP. I've only had to replace the alternator, water pump, and A/C compressor (just once each). Considering how much I've modified the car, I believe that's pretty impressive. Plus, she still runs real well. I wouldn't hesitate taking it on a cros country trip and back if need be. It's been a very reliable car.
